Mac Jones has had enough of Matt Patricia as the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots. On Thursday Night Football, the Patriots got beaten like a drum by the Buffalo Bills once again, 24-10. Their offense couldn’t get anything going and former Alabama star Mac Jones let his frustration boil over into a NSFW outburst for his offensive coordinator, Matt Patricia.

It doesn’t take an expert lip reader to understand what he was yelling.

“Throw the fu****** ball. F****ing run game sucks.”

It’s not surprising in the slightest bit that Jones is frustrated, considering that Matt Patricia has never been an offensive coordinator in his life. It could also explain why the New England offense has been so awful this season. The Patriots’ offense ranks in the bottom half of the league in both total yards and scoring offense.

Mac Jones stats have been awful this year after finishing second in Rookie of the Year voting last season. When pressured this year, Jones has only completed 37 percent of his passes (31st in the league). He’s also only averaged 2.9 yards per attempt this year while pressured, ranking him 34th in the league in that category.

Then, to top it all off, Jones has tossed five interceptions while being pressured, tying him for the most in the league. It’s pretty rare that you see that kind of regression from year one to year two at any position, especially from a quarterback that finished second in Rookie of the Year voting.

His QBR is currently 35.2–ranking him 28th in the league in that stat category. Quite frankly, if a player at any position is having that bad of a season and they aren’t having issues with their coaching staff, there are clearly some problems about their competitive fire and drive.

The Patriots offensive line play has been awful this season. And it’s safe to say, it’s time for Bill Belichick to bring in a real offensive coordinator. It’s been one of the most puzzling moves of his entire coaching career in New England. Why would he refuse to hire an offensive coordinator? Does he simply not want to put up with a new coach learning his system?

It’s hard to figure out and doesn’t make any sense. You really have to wonder if Belichick would have not hired an actual OC if Brady were still under center in Foxborough. It’s highly doubtful that Brady would have allowed it, but he has way more leverage than Jones.

Regardless, if Belichick wants to get a true evaluation of his young quarterback for the future, he needs to fix his offensive line and hire a real offensive coordinator. Otherwise, the Mac Jones experiment in New England will be officially finished at some point in the near future. And after the promise he showed his rookie season, it’s a safe bet they need to give him more time, better circumstances, and better coaching to get a true evaluation of his skills in the NFL.
