WATCH: Patrick Surtain II returns an interception 70 yards for a touchdown
Former Alabama star Patrick Surtain II is having himself a career day for the Denver Broncos. Many people projected superstardom in the NFL for the former Crimson Tide great, and he’s proving everybody right this season.
The rookie defensive back intercepted Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert twice today, with the second one being a 70-yard house call for six.

The pick six was the first touchdown of his very young NFL career thus far. The play put the Broncos up on the Chargers 28-7 with under eight minutes to play in the game. Denver won the game 28-13.
So far, just 10 games into his rookie season, Surtain II has already snagged three interceptions. He’s definitely a leading candidate for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Patrick Surtain II is the son of former NFL legend Patrick Surtain, Sr. Surtain played with the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League. He racked up 422 tackles and 37 interceptions in his storied 11 year career.
Surtain was a three-time Pro Bowl selection for the Miami Dolphins. He was named First Team All-Pro in 2002 and Second Team All-Pro in 2003. Surtain coached his son in high school football at American Heritage in Plantation, Florida. He was recently named the 2020 National Coach of the Year by High School Football America, after he led the American Heritage Patriots to their third state championship in the past five years.
