Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry is one of the most powerful runners in the NFL. Part of what makes him so dominant is the fact that it is incredibly difficult to bring him to the ground. Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard just learned that the hard way.

Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw the ball out to Henry, and Henry found space to move up the field. He ran right through the blocks out in front before Leonard stepped in front of him. Then, Henry lowered his shoulder and sent Leonard flying to the ground. The play ultimately went down as a 14-yard reception for Henry.

Tannehill threw an interception later in the drive, leading to a Colts field goal. The Titans lead 14-10 at halftime. Henry already had 70 yards rushing and 20 through the air through two quarters.

The Colts knew facing Henry would be challenging

Earlier in the week, Colts safety Julian Blackmon hilariously acknowledged the challenge of trying to tackle Henry. The Titans offense runs through Henry, and Henry is pretty good at running through anything and everything in front of him.

“All I gotta say is we’re going to tackle him,” said Blackmon. “Yes, we know he’s gonna stiff arm. Yes, we know that — we’re going to tackle him. We have to. We have to. It’s a point of emphasis for us to tackle him.

“With him, he’s strong — you really gotta punch that thing down and do it another time. Then, maybe try to get other guys, look at them like ‘come help me out.’ I’m over here slapping his hand down, somebodies gotta come run,” strategized Blackmon. “So we’ve just gotta make sure that we’re on our p’s and q’s, like I said and take care of it.”

Henry is in the sixth year of his NFL career with the Titans. He has 6,100 yards and 58 touchdowns rushing in his career. He has rushed for 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns in three consecutive seasons. The Titans selected Henry in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft after he posted 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns at Alabama as a junior.
