The woman who says she’s the daughter of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is at the center of another lawsuit against him. She has accused him of defamation, her lawyers told ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr.

Alexandra Davis filed a lawsuit last year saying Jones is her biological father, and in her latest lawsuit, she said Jones and people associated with him attacked her character “based knowingly on false statements and accusations” after the filed her initial lawsuit. Jones, his lawyer and outside communications consultant are named in the lawsuit.

“Rather than acknowledging his child, or even taking the opportunity to get to know his child, my father and his associates have publicly smeared my reputation and intentions,” Davis said in a statement her lawyers provided to ESPN. “I have been falsely accused of a ‘shakedown’ and ‘extortion.’ In reality, I am a daughter who simply wants to acknowledge her father without fear of retribution. I will not stand by and let my father’s actions or words define me or my future.”

Davis alleged Jones and others “initiated a deliberate plan” and he sought out to portray her “as an ‘extortionist’ and a ‘shakedown artist’ whose motivation was money and greed.”

“Not once did Defendant Jones or any of his agents ever deny that Plaintiff was Defendant Jones’ daughter,” Davis’ Dallas lawyers wrote. “Instead, Defendant Jones chose the avenue of calling his own daughter an ‘extortionist’ merely to make his own public image less despicable by attempting to discredit Plaintiff’s reputation and character in the public eye.”

After Davis’ initial paternity lawsuit came about, though, Jones claimed he was the subject of an extortion attempt. He requested a judge dismiss his case because she is involved in “multiple monetary extortion attempts” against him and the Dallas Cowboys both.

Davis’ lawyers responded with a statement shortly thereafter denying the claims.

“Even more distasteful is that Mr. Jones has stooped so low as to attempt to tie Alexandra’s lawsuit into his other daughter’s, Charlotte Jones, divorce to have it lost among his many scandals,” her lawyers said.

In December, the court ordered Jones has to take a paternity test, but that has been put off until May. Because he was at the NFL league meetings this week, Van Natta said Jones wasn’t available for comment on the story.

Last year, it was also alleged that Jones paid Davis and her mother $3 million, Van Natta previously reported. That number included the woman’s full tuition at SMU and a $70,000 Range Rover for her 16th birthday.
