A local radio interview for Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones has quickly turned into a national storyline. Jones went after hosts of Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas for questions regarding the team following Sunday’s big loss to the Detroit Lions. Asked about the moment later Tuesday afternoon, he doubled down on his criticism.

Jones threatened to get the hosts fired during the interview and later claimed to pay them since 105.3 The Fan is the radio home of the Cowboys. Host Shan Shariff responded to that notion after the quote from Jones came out, not truly understanding why the situation had escalated to the level it has. However, he did admit being paid by Jones would be nice.

“Is this real life??? I WISH Jerry Jones paid me. He insults us again and we’ve had back and forth over WAY bigger things in our 14 years. I truly don’t understand what the hell is going on,” Shariff said via X.

Shariff’s co-host, RJ Choppy sent out a tweet of his own too, jokingly looking for a payday from Jones if he is on the payroll.

“If you’re paying us you owe us some interest then too, pal,” Choppy said via X.

The comments from Jones that elicited a response came via Dianna Russini of The Athletic at the 2024 NFL League Meetings. Jones claims Shariff, Choppy, or the third co-host, Bobby Belt, do not know “what they were talking about” and would have been willing to provide an answer for somebody who was involved in football.

“I don’t know that I would go as far as (calling) the volume connotation as yelling,” Jerry Jones said via The Athletic. “OK? But the facts are that if I’m going to be grilled by the tribunal, I don’t need it to be by the guys I’m paying. I can take it from fans and take it from other people. I take a lot of pride in how fair and how much I try to work with the media, we’re brothers and sisters. But I was a little frustrated there today.

“…The wrong ones were doing the questioning. Now, if those had been real fans sitting there or if there had been people that knew what they were talking about, football people, I might have had a different answer.”
