2022 NFL Draft: Las Vegas drops odds, favorites for first quarterback selected

The 2022 NFL Draft is still a few weeks away, but the quarterback picture across the league has already been drastically changed this offseason. Many prominent quarterbacks have found new homes, while others have re-signed with their current teams. Regardless, the outlook for this year’s NFL Draft quarterback class is very different than it was a few months ago.
There are still a couple of dominoes to fall at quarterback across the NFL, but there are also some intriguing options available in the draft. With a couple of weeks remaining before draft night, Vegas Insider has released odds on who will be the first quarterback selected.
Odds to be first quarterback taken in 2022 NFL Draft
Malik Willis, Liberty, -200
Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh, +175
Matt Corral, Ole Miss, +1500
Sam Howell, North Carolina, +1800
Desmond Ridder, Cincinnati, +2500
Carson Strong, Nevada, +10000
Bailey Zappe, Western Kentucky, +10000
E.J. Perry, Brown, +20000
Jack Coan, Notre Dame, +20000
D’Eriq King, Miami, +20000
Skylar Thompson, Kansas State, +20000
Brock Purdy, Iowa State, +20000
Kaleb Eleby, Western Michigan, +20000
Dustin Crum, Kent State, +20000
Cole Kelley, SE Louisiana, +20000
Multiple teams could be eyeing a quarterback in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Detroit Lions could be looking for a long-term solution at the position, but the second overall pick might be too early to take one of Willis or Pickett. Detroit also holds the final pick of the first round, in addition to an early pick in the second round, as well. Another possible landing spot for a quarterback is the Carolina Panthers as sixth overall. The Panthers are undoubtedly looking to upgrade, and the options available are dwindling. They might not love using the sixth overall pick on a quarterback, but Carolina might not have a choice.

The Seattle Seahawks are an option at ninth overall, although the second round might be more likely for a quarterback there. Washington is unlikely to use the 11th overall pick on a quarterback, although it can’t be completely ruled out. The New Orleans Saints are an option at 16th and 19th overall, as are the Pittsburgh Steelers at 20th overall.
Other quarterbacks are still likely to be traded, such as Jimmy Garoppolo and Baker Mayfield. With those dominoes still needing to fall, the quarterback conversation in the draft could be very different by the time draft night rolls around. One of Pickett or Willis are the two odds on favorites to be the first quarterbacks taken, but anything can happen on draft night.
