Defense leads the way in PFF’s latest mock

EDGE rushers Aidan Hutchinson and Kayvon Thibodeaux again lead the way in PFF’s latest NFL mock draft. But behind those two, there are major changes in this mock. Last week, PFF had Kenny Pickett being the first quarterback taken at third overall. But this week, PFF has Pickett going 15th and Evan Neal cracking the top three. Overall, there are 17 defensive players in this first round mock compared to 15 offensive players.

Four quarterbacks were selected in this NFL mock draft, with Pickett staying in Pittsburgh by being selected 15th overall by the Steelers. But he wasn’t the first quarterback taken. Instead, Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral went 11th overall to the Philadelphia Eagles, which is an interesting fit given Jalen Hurts currently being with the Eagles. UNC’s Sam Howell went 19th to Washington and Liberty’s Malik Willis went 27th to the Detroit Lions.

How the quarterback market and the final draft order shake out will have major impacts on the real NFL Draft once that time comes. But as the NFL’s regular season and college football’s bowl season comes to a close, there is growing clarity in this year’s draft class.
