2024 Heisman Trophy odds updated ahead of spring football
Spring practice is here, with a few programs getting started in the final days of February. But it’s never too early to look at who could take the Heisman Trophy home with them in under 10 months.
Circa Sports has released the updated odds list, with 12 players being listed at +2000 or better. Probably to no surprise, every single name plays the quarterback position. Colorado‘s Travis Hunter, who is +6000, is the first non-quarterback on the board.
The SEC also dominates at the top, with the first five names coming from the conference. Four total conferences are represented while the Big Ten is the only other to have multiple players listed.
Georgia QB Carson Beck +700
Beck will be leading what should be the preseason No. 1 team in college football. He impressed throughout his first year as the starting quarterback at Georgia but is expected to take another step forward in 2024.
Georgia has not had a Heisman Trophy winner since Herschel Walker in 1982. Now, Beck will be one of the favorites to hoist the trophy at the end of the season.
Texas QB Quinn Ewers +700
Ewers will be back for his third year with Texas after leading the program to a Big 12 title. Now, a whole new beast is waiting on the other side with the Longhorns set to play its first-ever season in the SEC.
The biggest question surrounding Texas will be the new group of receivers around him. Steve Sarkisian hit the NCAA transfer portal hard to fill the needs and there is confidence in Austin the production level can remain elite.
LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier +1200
Nnussmeier has patiently waited his turn in Baton Rouge. His first season on campus was a redshirt one — while the last two were spent sitting behind eventual Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels.
The time has come for Nussmeier to step into the starting role. Brian Kelly has a ton of confidence in his guy, citing some of the flashes we have already seen.
Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart +1200
Being a third-year starting quarterback under Lane Kiffin will likely always find you on this list. Ole Miss expecting to have on-field success and potentially make the College Football Playoff certainly helps too.
Maybe if Dart does wind up making the trip to New York City, he can do so in a private jet. No better way to show up to show up to the Heisman Trophy presentation than in style.
Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava +1200
This is a guy Tennessee fans have been waiting for. Josh Heupel kept him on the sidelines for all of his freshman season but now, Iamaleava is ready to take over on Rocky Top.
Expectations are through the roof as well, especially after the Cheez-It Bowl performance against Iowa. If Iamaleava can find his ceiling quite quickly, being in the Heisman discussion is not impossible.
Miami QB Cam Ward +1500
Ward spent a lengthy period of time in the transfer portal and flirted with going to the NFL. However, Miami eventually won out and Mario Cristobal was able to land the quarterback he was desperate to.
Miami has not had a stable situation at quarterback the past two seasons. If Ward can provide that, the on-field success is expected to follow, and the program could blossom.
Alabama QB Jalen Milroe +1500
A lot of questions were answered in the second half of the 2023 season regarding Milroe. He grew into his role and helped Alabama reach the College Football Playoff in what wound up being Nick Saban‘s final season in coaching.

Now, Kalen DeBoer steps in after he helped develop Washington‘s Michael Penix. Milroe will be hoping to take a major step forward under the new coaching regime.
Ohio State QB Will Howard +1500
There might not be a better job in college football than being Ohio State’s starting quarterback. Especially under head coach Ryan Day, who has a great track record since taking over for Urban Meyer.
Howard will step in and bring something the Buckeyes did not have in 2023 — experience. He will step in with some pressure on his shoulders but seems ready to deliver on the biggest of stages for Ohio State.
Kansas State QB Avery Johnson +2000
Another second-year quarterback gaining a ton of attention, Johnson will be taking over for the man slotted right above him in odds. He officially took over against NC State in the Pop Tart Bowl and folks in Manhattan have to feel pretty good.
Johnson will lead Kansas State into a new era of Big 12 football, hoping to be one of the conference’s top programs. Maybe success on the national stage will lead to earning Heisman recognition as a youngster.
Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman +2000
A new era is upon us in Aggieland, with Jimbo Fisher out and Mike Elko in. Collin Klein has been brought on as the offensive coordinator and he is thought to pair well with Weigman.
However, injuries have been the issue in Weigman’s college career thus far. Staying healthy and putting together a complete season is something Texas A&M will be hoping for in 2024.
Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel +2000
Gabriel is joining the third school of his college career and is exactly what Oregon could have hoped for when replacing Bo Nix. Experience is the name of the game with Gabriel and not many in college football have more than him.
Oregon is transitioning into the Big Ten and will contend for a conference title in its first season. Gabriel will have to play well for it to come to fruition and as Nix was a year ago, being a Heisman Trophy finalist is certainly a possibility.
Notre Dame QB Riley Leonard +2000
Notre Dame brought Sam Hartman into the program last season and saw the offense take a jump. The Irish are hoping for similar results with Leonard after he spent two seasons at Duke.
Leonard is expected to be a threat both through the air and on the ground under offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock.
