2024 NBA Mock Draft 7.0: Final First Round projections
The 2024 NBA Draft has arrived, just hours ahead of the first pick being announced by Adam Silver, there is still widespread discussion about the many ways the board could play out. From live trades to the number of players available, the next season will be shaped by the transactions made tonight.
Based on the latest information from around the NBA, as well as months of scouting, each team now prepares for day one of the process. For the first time, round two will take play on Thursday afternoon.
Here is a look at how Wednesday’s first round, which includes 30 picks, could play out.
1. Atlanta Hawks: Zaccharie Risacher, France
The latest intel on the No. 1 overall pick has swayed back and forth, with the front office indicating they will keep the pick, while other reports suggest a trade with the San Antonio Spurs could be in play.
The latest on the player who will be selected first overall also varies, with Zaccharie Risacher and Donovan Clingan mentioned for the Atlanta Hawks, and Alex Sarr mentioned as a potential trade-up target
2. Washington Wizards: Alex Sarr, France
The Washington Wizards remain in good position to land one of their top players on the board, with the two players left in the group of three being considered for the No. 1 overall spot.
3. Houston Rockets: Reed Sheppard, Kentucky
The Houston Rockets have made no secret that they could move the No. 3 overall pick for the right offer. They could end up trading this pick to a team targeting the best player available or selecting a player with value who can either fit into the rotation or be used in a later trade.
4. San Antonio Spurs: Stephon Castle, UConn
As mentioned above. the San Antonio Spurs have been mentioned in reports as a team who could look to move up the board using one or both of their lottery picks. A best player available approach makes sense if they stay put.
5. Detroit Pistons (Projected Trade): Donovan Clingan, UConn
The Detroit Pistons have remained relatively quiet throughout the pre-draft process. Links to Matas Buzelis have been made, but they are also a candidate to trade down with a Donovan Clingan suitor.
This spot continues to make the most sense for Memphis to move up and select Clingan, leading to the projected trade between the two.
6. Charlotte Hornets: Dalton Knecht, Tennessee
The Charlotte Hornets have a need between LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller as they continue to fill out the starting lineup, and the three options who make the most sense there are Reed Sheppard, Stephon Castle and Dalton Knecht. Trading up to secure their top option is also an option.
7. Portland Trail Blazers: Cody Williams, Colorado
The Portal Trail Blazers land in a good position to take the best available player on their board at this point in the re-building process. They can also take a more patient approach with long-term projects than some in this range.
8. San Antonio Spurs: Tidjane Salaun, France
Even though the San Antonio Spurs already land Stephon Castle in this mock draft, they have reported interest in other guards as well. However, with multiple forward options on the table, the direction could go a number of ways.

9. Memphis Grizzlies (Projected Trade): Matas Buzelis, G-League
The Memphis Grizzlies have been mentioned by many as a team likely to trade up or down depending on the availability of Donovan Clingan. If a move down the board comes, Kel’el Ware and Zach Edey could also help fill the need at center.
In this projected trade, Memphis lands Clingan, while Detroit is still able to secure Buzelis after a slight slide down the board.
10. Utah Jazz: Nikola Topic, Serbia
The Utah Jazz appear to be a floor for Dalton Knecht or Cody Williams, but with both off the board, they could look to swing at the draft’s most polarizing upside prospects as a potential fit for the future.
11. Chicago Bulls: Devin Carter, Providence
Trading away Alex Caruso signified the start of at least a short-term rebuild for the Chicago Bulls, and left a hole for a defensive-minded guard in the rotation. Links have long been made with this player.
12. Oklahoma City Thunder: Carlton Carrington, Pitt
The beneficiary of the Alex Caruso trade, the Oklahoma City Thunder also alleviated a need before the draft. Adding to the perimeter depth off the bench could help sustain an increasingly expensive roster.
13. Sacramento Kings: Ron Holland, G-League
The Sacramento Kings eliminated their need for a scoring guard by retaining Malik Monk, allowing them to take an upside swing here, or package the pick to upgrade with a veteran wing.
14. Washington Wizards: Rob Dillingham, Kentucky
UPDATE: Selection updated to reflect pre-draft trade between Trail Blazers and Wizards.
Washington now owns two lottery picks, allowing them to address both the center need and acquire one of the point guards who falls to this point in the draft.
