The first ticket to the 2025 Final Four has been punched. Florida took down Texas Tech in the West Regional in San Francisco on Saturday night, and the Gators’ odds have been updated for the national title.

Florida moved to +260 to win the national championship after taking down Texas Tech, according to FanDuel, and later improved to +230. That’s a further shift from the odds prior to tip-off, set at +310.

The two teams went back and forth during the first half of the game at Chase Center. Florida eventually took the 40-37 lead into halftime thanks in large part to a perfect 10-for-10 showing from the free throw line in the first two minutes.

However, Texas Tech didn’t back down and took a lead of its own early in the second half on a Darrion Williams three-pointer just before the under-16 minute media timeout. That made it a 45-42 Red Raiders lead as the game remained close to start the second half.

From there, Texas Tech put its foot on the gas to take full control of the game. The Red Raiders lead grew to as much as 10 points with 6:18 to go before Florida made a run to get within six with less than three minutes to go, and the gap closed to three points with just over two minutes left.

Walter Clayton Jr. then re-entered the chat. He hit the game-tying three-pointer with 1:47 remaining in the game, taking things to a 75-75 tie as Florida rattled off a 9-0 run. That set up a final minute for the ages as spot in the Final Four sat in the balance.

Williams then hit the go-ahead shot to break the tie, but Clayton again came up big with a clutch three to re-take the lead, 78-77, with one minute left. Neither team had any timeouts, and Texas Tech took the ball back down. Williams’ three-point shot missed, and the Red Raiders were forced to foul – all but sealing Florida’s victory.

All told, Florida was able to end the game on an 18-4 run to get the victory. The Gators sealed their spot in the 2025 Final Four with the 84-79 win over Texas Tech.

Clayton led all scorers with 30 points, including those big-time shots down the stretch as part of Florida’s game-winning run. Thomas Haugh also had a huge night with 20 points and 11 rebounds to help lead the charge.

Now, the Gators will head to the Alamodome for the Final Four. They will await the winner of Sunday’s Auburn vs. Michigan State game.
