Houston is headed back to their home state to play in the Final Four. With that, they’ll be among the last teams in contention to win the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

Per the updated odds at FanDuel, No. 1 Houston is now at (+470), which is currently third-best behind No. 1 Duke (-105) and No. 1 Florida (+290), to win the national title next week in San Antonio. That’s up from (+600), which was fourth-best, coming into this weekend in the Elite Eight.

However, this is subject to change again after the last game this afternoon in the Elite Eight. No. 1 Auburn will play No. 2 Michigan State in the South Region for the fourth slot in the Final Four. A win for the Tigers (+600 currently), the top overall seed in the tournament, could make Houston’s odds fall to the fourth of the four teams while a win for the Spartans (+2800) would likely leave the Cougars’ odds in third after only the Blue Devils and Gators.

It’s also considering Vegas already has Houston as an underdog for when they’ll take the floor next weekend at the Alamodome. Before their quarterfinal was even over with today in Indianapolis, Duke opened as a 5.5-point favorite over the Cougs.

This comes after a 69-50 win for No. 1 Houston to clinch the Midwest Region over No. 2 Tennessee in the Elite Eight. The Cougars built a double-digit lead they’d never give up by holding the Vols to 15 points (21.4% FG, 6.7% 3PT) in the first half while keeping them to their second-fewest points of the entire season with 50 (28.8% FG, 17.2% 3PT). That gave Houston the second-biggest win of their tournament run through the first two weekends after close finishes against No. 8 Gonzaga and No. 4 Purdue.

Houston, a one-seed for the third consecutive year, will be making their seventh-ever appearance in the Final Four and their second in the modern era having gone five years ago in 2021. They’ll now, despite being the favorite, have some kind of advantage in the national semifinal, and possibly final, playing the closest to home just two hundred miles west of H-Town.
