2025 Heisman Odds: Updated betting favorites for college football award

As the 2025 college football season draws closer, a new group of Heisman Trophy favorites have emerged. From first-year starting quarterbacks, to established veterans, some of the biggest names the sport have to offer have cracked the initial 2025 preseason list.
Notably, four of the top 10 hail from the Southeastern Conferece, while Ohio State is the only team with two players in this year’s preseason top 10. The SEC lays claim to the top two spots on the list.
Odds range from 5-1 all the way down through a five-way tie at 100-1 odds. Did a player from your favorite college football team make the initial list? Below are the complete rankings heading into fall training camp, via Circa Sports:
Arch Manning, Texas 5-1
Texas not only has aspirations of winning the national championship in 2025, but first-year starting quarterback Arch Manning opens the preseason atop Circa Sports’ list of preseason Heisman contenders.
With Quinn Ewers suffering an injury early in the season, Manning went on to finish his redshirt freshman season with 939 total yards to go with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. Manning also finished the season with an 87.5 QBR, which would have ranked among the nation’s leaders but did not qualify.
Garrett Nussmeier, LSU 8-1

In his fifth season of college football, Garrett Nussmeier is expected to be among the elite quarterbacks in the country. Waiting his turn for three seasons in Baton Rouge, Nussmeier earned his first starting quarterback job last season and did not disappoint.
He finished the 2024 season with 4,052 passing yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. It was a great start for the senior from Lake Charles, but he has one more opportunity to lead his team to the CFP. He’ll look to make the most of his opportunity, which begins on the road on Aug. 30 against Clemson and their quarterback, Cade Klubnik.
Cade Klubnik, Clemson 9-1
2024 was Klubnik’s second season as the team’s starting quarterback, where he finished the season with over 3,600 passing yards and impressively, 36 touchdowns compared to six interceptions. His QBR (78.7) was ranked 12th-best in the country at the end of the season.
He helped lead the Tigers to an ACC championship and College Football Playoff berth. They’re expected to be right back in the mix this season. If so, Klubnik could find himself in New York as a Heisman finalist at the end of the year.
Drew Allar, Penn State 12-1
Drew Allar led Penn State under center for the Nittany Lions’ best season yet under head coach James Franklin. Leading his team to the national semifinal against Notre Dame — Allar’s reason for returning to Happy Valley in 2025 is simple. Win it all.
With a resume like his, he may be able to do just that. During his three seasons in college, including two as the starter at Penn State, he’s scored 64 total touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions. He’s also thrown for over 6,000 career passing yards with over 500 rushing to boot.
Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State 16-1

Jeremiah Smith caught 76 passes for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns en route to helping Ohio State win its first national championship under head coach Ryan Day. Those were his numbers as a true freshman, and many see his potential as limitless.
All signs point toward Smith being among the elite in the sport this fall, and his preseason Heisman odds reflect that. Expect his new quarterback — who is also on this list — to connect with him early and often in 2025.
DJ Lagway, Florida 17-1
A former five star recruit, Lagway took over mid-way through his true freshman season in 2024 for the injured Graham Mertz — and the Gators went 6-1 during the back stretch of the season with the young signal caller leading the charge.

Lagway ultimately finished the season with 1,915 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions on a 59.9% completion percentage in 2024. He also added an additional 101 sack-adjusted yards to his overall yardage total during his freshman season.
LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina 19-1
LaNorris Sellers didn’t disappoint during his first campaign as the Gamecocks starting QB. In 2024, Sellers completed 65.6% of his passes for 2,534 yards and 18 touchdowns compared to seven interceptions.
Many preseason mock drafts have him among the first quarterbacks selected in the 2026 NFL Draft. With that type of praise, it’s no surprise that the South Carolina star is among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy in 2025.
Dante Moore, Oregon 20-1

Moore transferred to Oregon from UCLA before the 2024 season. He didn’t see the field much as the backup to Dillon Gabriel, but does have starting experience.
In 2023, Moore appeared in nine games including five starts for the Bruins. He completed 114 of his 213 passes (53.5%) for 1,610 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He’s expected to make a jump as a potential Heisman favorite, according to Circa Sports.
Julian Sayin, Ohio State 20-1
Like Moore, Ohio State doesn’t exactly know what they’re going to get out of their new quarterback. Sayin completed 17 of his 24 passing attempts for 175 yards during their spring game in April. He led the Buckeyes to three-straight touchdown drives to start the game. However, that only goes so far.
He played sparingly across four games in 2024 as Will Howard‘s backup as the Buckeyes went on to win a national championship. Howard set the example of what success looks like within the program, and now Sayin will have to fill his shoes with expectations at an all-time high in Columbus
Carson Beck, Miami 25-1
Beck had an unfortunate ending to his Georgia career, suffering a season-ending UCL injury on the final play of the first half of Georgia’s win over Texas in the SEC Championship. He later transferred to Miami, where he will play in his final season of eligibility.
He finished the 2024 campaign with 3,485 yards and 28 touchdowns while throwing 12 interceptions. Now, Beck is working diligently on his recovery and all signs point toward him being ready for the ‘Canes season opener against Notre Dame.
