2025 National Championship Odds: Early betting lines on next College Football Playoff Champs
Now that the college football season is in the books, it’s time to look ahead to next year’s national championship odds!
Of course, Ohio State is the favorite, fresh off winning the title Monday night. But next year’s race should be fascinating in the 12-team bracket once again.
Let’s dive into the latest national championship odds for next season, per FanDuel.
Ohio State (+450)
It’s hard to not make Ohio State the favorite going into next season. The Buckeyes just won the whole thing of course!
Jeremiah Smith is back at WR, Caleb Downs at DB and a new QB should be groomed by Ryan Day, whether that’s Julian Sayin, Tavien St. Clair or a transfer. They might not be as good next year, but they’ll be pretty darn good based on the national championship odds.
Texas (+650)
Texas will transition to Arch Manning at QB and the national championship should be in the Longhorns’ sights. Steve Sarkisian has back to back CFP semifinal appearances as a coach so this is the next logical step.
A great quarterback, a solid defense and good coaching is a good recipe. Now it’s just about Texas putting it all together in 2025 to finally get back on top.
Oregon (+650)
Oregon has only gotten better each year under Dan Lanning and the Ducks earned the No. 1 seed this year. Unfortunately, they ran into Ohio State.
But perhaps it’s a national championship or bust next season with Lanning’s ability to coach, recruit and develop. Dante Moore should be the QB next season with Dillon Gabriel graduating and the talent is there. Maybe being in Eugene helps him unlock what’s next.
Georgia (+700)
Don’t forget about Georgia in the national championship conversation. Kirby Smart is still one of, if not the best coach in college football.
Having won two titles already, the Bulldogs will be near the top of the SEC by next season and have a chance. They were No. 2 in seeding this year and were banged up by the time they played Notre Dame. A healthy Bulldogs’ squad should be one of the favorites.
Penn State (+850)
James Franklin and the Nittany Lions were so close to the national championship this season, but fell just short to Notre Dame. Despite losing to Ohio State and Oregon, Penn State still made a run this season.
Like the Buckeyes and Michigan before them, Penn State is running it back next season. A lot of key cogs are back so they’ll certainly be in contention.
Notre Dame (+1,200)
Marcus Freeman being on the sideline will give Notre Dame a chance to win a national championship in the future. The Fighting Irish, like Oregon, have only gotten better each year.
Perhaps the biggest question is who fills the QB’s shoes with Riley Leonard’s one and done year. Other than that, Freeman’s job in the portal and recruiting has been top tier.

Alabama (+1,600)
Alabama will have to be in the national championship conversation right? Kalen DeBoer didn’t get back to the title game in Year 1 like he did with Washington in 2023, but the arrow is pointing up.
Giving him time in Tuscaloosa to put his stamp on things should work out. Alabama is still a hot bed for recruits and portal targets. It’d be stunning to not see the Crimson Tide in contention.
Tennessee (+1,800)
Tennessee finally made the playoff under Josh Heupel but went one and one to the champs, Ohio State. Still, with the talent coming back, Tennessee could be one of the top 10 teams to compete for the national championship.
Nico Iamaleava is back at QB and if he develops along, this could be one of the most explosive offenses in the country. Watch out for the Vols.
Clemson (+1,800)
Dabo Swinney and the Tigers returned to the playoff this season but fell short against Texas in the first round. But now that he’s using the portal, watch out!
Clemson used to be a regular for the national championship and they could return to that status. They’ll certainly be the favorite in the ACC next year to give themselves a shot.
LSU (+2,000)
Brian Kelly must be feeling some kind of way right now with Notre Dame making the national championship before he did with LSU. He says he’s unbothered. In any event, Kelly is a good enough coach to get to the finals.
It’s just about the talent development and Kelly putting it all together to get to the bracket. There’ll be opportunity, but the Tigers are further behind on the odds than the other big boys.
