Former Virginia Tech running back Bhayshul Tuten had an outing to remember at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, running a blazing-fast 4.32 seconds in the 40-yard dash when it was his time to put a number down.

It was the top time among all running backs who participated in the event on Saturday, besting prospects like Jaydon Blue (4.39), TreVeyon Henderson (4.43) and Donovan Edwards (4.45). It was a better time than some of the NFL’s best ran when it was their time, like Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles, and Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions.

The NFL shared a simulcam of Tuten, Barkley and Gibbs to social media, highlighting how impressive the former Hokies ball-carrier’s run was. Check it out below, as Tuten out-ran some of the best the league has to offer in the 40-yard dash.

All told, Barkley and Gibbs ran impressive times, with the former Penn State star notching a 4.40, and the former Alabama runner putting down a 4.36. That just makes Tuten’s performance that much more stunning, and it’ll be interesting to see if he rockets up draft boards following the event.

He might be flying a bit under the radar, but his 40-yard dash, coupled with the formidable statistics he put up last season in the ACC, will go a long way towards NFL teams taking notice of Tuten. In 2024, Tuten rushed for 1,159 yards and 15 touchdowns, while also catching 23 passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns.

Those are extremely solid numbers, as Tuten improved on his 2023 season, where he accumulated 863 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. His receiving numbers were a little better though, as he caught 27 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns in the season prior.

Prior to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN didn’t even have Tuten as one of his top ten running backs available for the 2025 NFL Draft. There’s a ton of talent, like Ashton Jeanty of Boise State and Omarion Hampton of North Carolina leading the way. Perhaps he’ll crack the list now.

Regardless, no player might’ve helped their draft stock more than Bhayshul Tuten in Indianapolis thus far. He still has a bit of a ways to go, but he’s putting himself on the radar of teams, especially when you put yourself in the same conversation as players like Saquon Barkley and Jahmyr Gibbs.
