Drafts can determine teams’ futures and the Tennessee Titans aren’t taking their No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft lightly. On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed the latest details on how the Titans plans to use the No. 1 overall pick.

“Right now, the Titans are still sifting through their options, whether they would take [Penn State EDGE] Abdul Carter, whether they would take a quarterback at one or whether they were to trade back,” Schefter said. “They are not ready to make a decision until after they see quarterbacks work out at their pro days.

“We’ve seen in other years, teams move up early in the process. You’ll remember the New York Jets making a dramatic jump up in the first round to No. 3 to go take a quarterback that turned out to be Sam Darnold. We saw on March 10, the Carolina Panthers climb up to the No. 1 overall pick for the Chicago Bears.

“I don’t think we’re going to see a quick, sudden move of that [level] this year, if we see one at all. The Titans are taking calls. They’re listening to offers, but you’re not going to see anything done with that pick for a few weeks from now, at the very least.”

The Titans will have a better evaluation of the talent in the draft after the NFL Scouting Combine this week. After the combine, schools will host pro days where prospects can attempt to impress potential suitors once more.

If the Titans plan on drafting a quarterback, they’ll likely learn the most during these pro day events. After all, Shedeur Sanders, who is expected to be one of the top two QBs taken in the draft, won’t be working out at the scouting combine this week.

As Schefter mentioned, the Titans also have the option to trade the pick. Many experts believe this year’s draft class is not as strong as last year’s and the Titans could decide they’ll get more value from trading for other assets instead of using their coveted top pick.

No matter what decision the Titans make, it needs to be the right one for the organization’s sake. The Titans have had three losing seasons in a row, most recently posting a 3-14 record in the 2024-25 campaign.

Now, the Tennessee Titans must turn their misfortunes into a brighter future. The 2025 NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
