2025 NFL Draft: CBS Sports shakes up new mock draft ahead of College Football Playoff

CBS Sports shook up its new mock draft ahead of the College Football Playoff beginning this weekend with the first round games.

So with the updated draft order, we see quarterback-needy New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders both getting their quarterbacks of the future. As it stands, it’s hard to picture anybody else but these two individuals go in the first two draft selections.

Check out the latest NFL Mock Draft, courtesy of CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson:

1. New York Giants: Cam Ward, QB – Miami

So the Giants would have the pick of the litter in the draft and opt for Ward according to Wilson. He led one of the most explosive offenses in college football in Coral Gables.

Ward’s done it at Miami, Washington State and Incarnate Word. The Giants need a reset and they’ll get a franchise quarterback here with the first pick.

2. Las Vegas Raiders: Shedeur Sanders, QB – Colorado

So while the Giants draft Ward with the first pick, the Raiders get Sanders with the second pick and have a new franchise quarterback. Sanders seems built for the glamor of Vegas right?

It seems like Vegas needs more than a quarterback, despite some solid pieces. But this will be a step in the right direction after he put up some of the best numbers in the country over the last two years.

3. New England Patriots: Travis Hunter, WR/CB – Colorado

So there’s one Colorado player off the board so where does the next one fall in the draft? Right here! The Patriots are the winners of the Hunter lottery.

The Heisman Trophy winner heads to New England to play both positions, it seems at least. He can start right away at either position to be a weapon for Drake Maye or patrol the defensive secondary.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Mason Graham, DL – Michigan

A stud of a defensive lineman is drafted by Jacksonville here. Graham is an instant starter for the Jaguars.

At Michigan, he was dominant and caused opposing offensive lines fits. Whether that’s double teams or just figuring out how to get him out of position, NFL linemen might have similar struggles.

5. Carolina Panthers: Abdul Carter, EDGE – Penn State

Carter is a freak athlete and the Panthers would love another one of those on this team. Like the days of Julius Peppers, they want an instant impact EDGE rusher.

In this draft, Carter won’t last long, so the Panthers better pounce, no pun intended. He’s excelled since moving from off-ball linebacker.

6. Tennessee Titans: Kelvin Banks Jr., OT – Texas

The Titans have quarterback struggles, but if they want to give Will Levis another chance, you better draft some protection. Banks is one of the best available.

It’s basically a toss up between him and Campbell for the top tackle spot. You’ll be able to see Banks’ team in the College Football Playoff.

7. Cleveland Browns: Will Campbell, OT – LSU

Speaking of Campbell, here is where he will go in the draft, according to Wilson. The Browns are stuck with Deshaun Watson at QB based on the contract, but regardless of who starts, they need a tackle.

Campbell is Mr. Consistency at this rate. He’s had some struggles against the elite pass rushers of the SEC, but it’s hard to pass up on this talent.

8. New York Jets: Will Johnson, CB – Michigan

Johnson missed some time this year with injury, but other than Travis Hunter, he’s the best cornerback in the draft. He was a key cog to Michigan’s national championship last year and was effective while on the field this year.

Wilson actually compared Johnson to Patrick Surtain II. So yeah, that’s pretty good right? Could be an instant starter for the Jets alongside Sauce Gardner.

9. Chicago Bears: Mykel Williams, EDGE – Georgia

Georgia regularly produces insane defensive prospects for the NFL. We’re just shocked that the Eagles don’t draft Williams here!

All jokes aside, the Bears do need a lot to support Caleb Williams, their franchise quarterback. But you can’t miss out on Williams to be a game changer for the Chicago defense.

10. New Orleans Saints: Nic Scourton, EDGE – Texas A&M

Scourton was a star at Purdue and then had a banner year at Texas A&M to conclude his college career. It’ll be hard to see a draft where he’s not in the top 10 selections.

His length is a problem for offensive linemen and he’s got good inside moves. He shouldn’t last much longer than this in the draft.

18. Seattle Seahawks: Deone Walker, DL – Kentucky
19. Los Angeles Chargers: Colston Loveland, TE – Michigan 
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Shemar Stewart, DL – Texas A&M
21. Los Angeles Rams: Aireontae Ersery, OT – Minnesota
22. Washington Commanders: Shavon Revel Jr., CB – East Carolina
23. Denver Broncos: Tyler Warren, TE – Penn State
24. Baltimore Ravens: Derrick Harmon, DL – Oregon
25. Houston Texans: Walter Nolen, DL – Ole Miss
26. Pittsburgh Steelers: Luther Burden III, WR – Missouri
