2025 NFL Draft: Contract details revealed for Colts first round pick Tyler Warren

The contract details have been revealed for Tyler Warren, who was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Per Spotrac, Warren is expected to sign a four-year contract (with a fifth-year option) for $18,806,406 with a signing bonus of $10,317,382.
Tyler Warren had a big 2024 season at Penn State. He won the John Mackey Award (nation’s top tight end) and finished seventh in Heisman voting after catching 104 passes for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns in 16 games.
“Warren is a massive tight end who carried the Penn State offense this past season. He lined up in-line, in the slot and as a Wildcat quarterback,” Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com said about Warren. “His production is the result of his size, catch radius and tenacity. He doesn’t generate a lot of separation as a route runner, but he walls off defenders when on the move.
“Defenders simply can’t get through his body to make plays on the ball. He can track the ball over his shoulder and he can high-point the ball when needed. He isn’t a nifty option-route type of player. After the catch, defenders bounce off him or go along for a ride as he drags them for extra yardage. As a Wildcat quarterback, he creates space with his power and leg drive.”

What draft experts are saying about Tyler Warren
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com gave a draft analysis of Warren and compared him to two-time Super Bowl champion tight end Jeremy Shockey. “The ultimate ‘whatever, whenever’ player in the 2025 draft with the size, athleticism and competitive spirit to make good on his intentions,” Zierlein wrote. “Warren plays with swagger and ‘best player on the field’ energy. He imprints on games with alignment versatility, allowing opportunities for play-callers to stress the defense.
“Despite his size, he’s quick enough to beat man coverage underneath and plays with good recognition of holes in coverage. He has the ball skills and toughness to win contested catches and withstand punishing contact. He’s very capable as a lead/move blocker but will need a little improvement at sustaining blocks when blocking in-line. Warren can access all three levels of the field but is best served short and intermediate. He possesses elite football character and plays with a confidence that can be contagious. He has a chance to become one of the best tight ends in the league.”
