ESPN Top-12 QBs (2/2/25)

With last week’s pre-draft events finished up, ESPN’s Jordan Reid updated his latest rating of the quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

This comes after eight of these dozen players participated or attended the two of the bowl games this past week with five being in the Senior Bowl and three being in the Shrine Bowl.

With that, here’s how Reid ranked them with about a month until the combine in Indianapolis:

1. Cam WardMiami Hurricanes

Ward was QB1 on the board for Reid in his ranking on Sunday. He’s the latest expert to have it that way in the debate between he and one other quarterback that are expected to go in the first round come April.

That’s after Ward, the latest transfer quarterback to excel at one of his next schools, threw for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns that led the nation, and seven interceptions on 67.2% completion, which all made him one of the top passers in the country as well as a Heisman finalist, during his lone season at The ‘U.

2. Shedeur SandersColorado Buffaloes

Sanders then slots in in second following his week spent at The Shrine Bowl. Whether first or second, though, he’s the only other quarterback in the rating who is expected to be selected on the opening night of the draft.

Sanders, in his final season and second in Boulder, threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions on the highest completion rate in the country at 74%.

3. Jaxson DartOle Miss Rebels

Dart has seen his name move up on boards after his final season at the ‘Sip with Reid having him at No. 3. That comes after his week at the Senior Bowl in Mobile as his stock is setting him up as that next quarterback in the class behind Ward and Sanders at either one and two.

That’s after Dart completed 69.3% for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six picks this season for the Rebels.

4. Jalen MilroeAlabama Crimson Tide

Milroe, who also spent the week at the Senior Bowl, is in fourth for Reid but with his evaluation being a little more up and down. Personnel are still in on him playing the position at the next level but his stock hasn’t been as solid as time has gone on.

That’s following Milroe’s final season at ‘Bama where he posted career-best overall yardage with 3,570 in total while putting up 36 touchdowns but while having 17 turnovers.

5. Kyle McCordSyracuse Orange

McCord is then the final quarterback who could currently hear his name on the second day of the draft with Reid having him at No. 5. That’s after he was part of the Shrine Bowl this past week.

McCord, who has seen his stock shoot up into being one of the better quarterbacks in this draft, is coming off a single season with the Orange where he led the sport in passing yards with 4,779 yards on 66% completion along with 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

6. Will HowardOhio State Buckeyes

Howard, coming off winning the national title two weeks ago, finishes up the top half of this list at No. 6 for Reid. He and the six to follow are then all expected to be selected sometime on Saturday.

Howard, in one run as a Buckeye, had a career-best year with top-ten statistical finishes with 4,010 yards, 35 passing touchdowns, with seven more in rushing, and 10 interceptions while completing 73.1% of his passes, which was second-best in the nation.

7. Quinn EwersTexas Longhorns

Ewers, a high-rated prospect who went on to have a quality college career, has slipped on boards over time with him now in the bottom half of this rating for Reid.

Ewers just posted 3,472 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions with 65.8% completion in his final season on The 40 Acres. That has him no higher than Day 3, though, with him at No. 7 for ESPN.

8. Dillon GabrielOregon Ducks

Gabriel, as experienced as a quarterback gets with three programs represented this week at the Senior Bowl, received good feedback from scouts while in Alabama. That now has him at No. 8 here for Reid at ESPN.

That’s after Gabriel, in his lone season in Eugene, had a career year with 72.9% completion for 3,857 yards, 30 touchdowns, and six picks.

9. Tyler ShoughLouisville Cardinals

Shough, another experienced, multi-transfer quarterback, was also at the Senior Bowl this week.

He’s now a mid-to-late projection on the third day after throwing for 3,195 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions on 62.7% completion in his one season with the Cards.

10. Max BrosmerMinnesota Golden Gophers

Brosmer, one more veteran transfer at the position, is then in a similar spot stock-wise coming off of his week at the Shrine Bowl as he closed out the top-ten for Reid.

In his lone year at Minnesota, Brosmer completed 66.5% of his passes for 2,828 yards, 18 touchdowns, and six picks for the Golden Gophers.

11. Kurtis RourkeIndiana Hoosiers

Rourke, another collegiate vet, is then the first of the quarterbacks to be discussed as a potential undrafted free agent if not a late-day pick on Saturday. Part of that is due to recovery coming off a surgery he had to have following this season.

Still, following five years at Ohio, Rourke played very well this season for the Hoosiers with 69.4% completion for 3,042 yards, 29 touchdowns, and five picks

12. Riley LeonardNotre Dame Fighting Irish

Leonard, the runner-up quarterback in the national title game, is also slotted as either a late selection in the draft or an undrafted player. That’s after his appearance at the Senior Bowl this week in showing scouts what he can be as a pro.

Leonard, another transferring vet, led the Fighting Irish with a career-best season offensively in completing 66.7% of his throws for 2,861 yards, 21 touchdowns, and eight picks while rushing for 906 yards and 17 touchdowns
