The 2024 NFL season is officially in the rearview mirror after the Philadelphia Eagles demolished the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22, in Super Bowl LIX from New Orleans.
Now it’s officially the offseason, and all eyes turn to the 2025 NFL Draft. That includes FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt, who unveiled his first mock draft during a recent episode of his podcast, The Joel Klatt Show: A College Football Podcast.
Klatt started it off with a bang as he anticipates Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders will make his preference to avoid playing for the Tennessee Titans, the current owners of the No. 1 overall pick, public knowledge and Klatt believes that will trigger a trade for the top pick.
Check out Joel Klatt’s full first-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft below:
1. New York Giants (trade with TEN): Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado
Joel Klatt expects Shedeur Sanders will pull an Eli Manning and refuse to play for the Titans, and orchestrate a trade for the No. 1 overall pick, coincidently enough, with the same team Manning ulimately landed with: the New York Giants. Klatt is adamant that Sanders is “a clear No. 1 quarterback” given his “precise ability to be a surgeon” as a pocket passer, as well as “the ability to be an artist,” comparing the Colorado quarterback’s scrambling to Fran Tarkenton.
Klatt: “I don’t think Shedeur Sanders is going to want to play in Tennessee and I do not believe that any other player should be taken No. 1. For me, Shedeur is the best quarterback and … I don’t generally do this, and it’s going to be the only trade of the first round, but I’m trading the first pick. I think Tennessee trades the first pick for a combination of reasons, and I believe the Giants jump up to No. 1.”
2. Cleveland Browns: Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State

With the news Myles Garrett wants out of Cleveland, Klatt thinks the Browns won’t hesitate to take his pass-rushing replacement in Carter. A natural edge rusher, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound Carter was practically unstoppable this past season, racking up 12 sacks, 61 pressures, a NCAA-best 23.5 tackles for loss and 68 total tackles in 2024.
Klatt: “I believe that as he gets more comfortable at the line of scrimmage, he can have an impact that is similar to Micah Parsons. They wear the same number at the same school in college. This guy is really good, as twitchy as they come. He’s athletic. He can sink back into coverage. … He can do it all.”
3. Tennessee Titans (trade with NYG): Cam Ward, QB, Miami
After trading back two spots, Klatt expects the Titans will still get their preferred quarterback in Ward and acquire several additional picks in the process. Ward is considered the crown jewel of the 2025 QB class after leading the FBS with 39 passing touchdowns last season while ranking second nationally with 4,313 passing yards.
Klatt: “Tennessee can either take Cam Ward at No. 1, or go back to 3, still get Cam Ward and draft capital. To me, that’s a no-brainer. … They need to get their quarterback. Will Levis just hasn’t worked out the last couple of years. Cam Ward fits. On my board, he’s the second-best quarterback and I think there’s quite a drop after those top two guys.”
4. New England Patriots: Will Campbell, OT, LSU
This is another no-brainer for Klatt, as the Patriots look to protect last year’s No. 3 overall pick, second-year QB Drake Maye. The reliable 6-foot-6, 323-pound Campbell is considered the draft’s most pro-ready offensive lineman after allowing just two sacks on 524 pass-block snaps in 2024.
Klatt: “If you’re going to give the keys to the castle to Drake Maye, you better be able to protect him. … It might not be the sexiest pick, but it’s a real solid pick.”
5. Jacksonville Jaguars: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado

After the early run on QBs and the best trench players in the draft, Klatt gifts the Jaguars the reigning Heisman Trophy winner at No. 5. The two-way Colorado superstar would help fill multiple holes in Jacksonville, providing the porous Jaguars pass defense a shut-down corner and scoring machine on offense after ranking second nationally with 15 receiving touchdowns in 2024.
Klatt: “I believe that Travis Hunter will play both sides in the NFL, and I think he can. … His size, stature and quickness, more importantly, I think lend him to being more of a slot (receiver), getting his hands on the ball in creative ways. … Hunter’s snaps will be limited offensively just because of his role, which means he can be a starting cornerback and play the whole game on defense, and be a No. 3 wide receiver on the offensive side.”
6. Las Vegas Raiders: Will Johnson, CB, Michigan
With both of the top two QBs off the table, Klatt believes the Raiders will continue a run on defensive talent and take the 6-foot-2 cornerback at No. 6. Despite missing the second half of the 2024 season with a turf-toe injury, Johnson is a proven playmaker after racking up nine career interceptions at Michigan, including two pick-sixes last season.

Klatt: “Will Johnson has great length, he reminds me a lot of Richard Sherman. … Will Johnson is a shut-down corner, he’s got great ball skills. He’s great in zone, he can play man. He’s very smart, he’s physical, he likes to rally up and make tackles in the run game. He screams Pete Carroll to me.”
7. New York Jets: Mason Graham, DT, Michigan
The Jets have a lot of holes to fill, and may even be in the market for a quarterback with news 41-year-old veteran Aaron Rodgers won’t return in 2025, but Klatt believes they’ll take the powerful 6-foot-3, 320-pound Graham. The heart of Michigan’s defense, Graham is a plug-and-play prospect after tallying 52 tackles, 26 pressures, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks in 2024.
Klatt: “This guy’s tape is unreal. It’s exceptional. He is a block destructor, he’s quick, he rushes the quarterback, he stops the run. He does it all. He’s the best defensive tackle in the draft, and I believe the Jets would get much better defensively if they got Mason Graham.”
8. Carolina Panthers: Jalon Walker, EDGE, Georgia
![Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker](https://on3static.com/uploads/dev/assets/cms/2024/12/26103247/jalon-walker-1024x538.png)
Klatt’s Top 10 run on defense continues he projects the Panthers will snag elite Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker, the reigning Butkus Award winner. The 6-foot-2, 245-pound Walker racked up 62 total tackles, 6.5 sacks and seven tackles for loss for the Bulldogs in 2024, and will help fill the defensive void left by the loss of Brian Burns to free agency last offseason.
Klatt: “Walker’s a do-it-all linebacker, he can play inside, he can make tackles, he can move to the edge, he can be explosive as a pass rusher. So Jalon Walker to Carolina, I think that fits really well right there.”
9. New Orleans Saints: Mykel Williams, EDGE, Georgia
The run is on as Klatt projects the Saints follow the same blueprint that helped their new head coach’s former team win Super Bowl LIX and target uber-talented Georgia defender Mykel Williams. Despite less-than-encouraging stats last season, the 6-foot-5, 260-pound Williams has the talent to become the NFL’s next great defensive star out of Athens.
Klatt: “Kellen Moore comes over from Philadelphia where they made a living drafting Georgia defensive players. … That Eagles blueprint of drafting Georgia defenders, look what utlimately paid off: a Super Bowl championship up there.”
10. Chicago Bears: Tyler Booker, OG, Alabama
The new-look Chicago Bears have one mission this offseason — protect last season’s No. 1 overall pick, Caleb Williams. And that will start with versatile Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Booker, a 6-foot-5, 325-pound guard. The 2024 first-team All-American was Mr. Reliable for the Crimson Tide, starting 26 of his 37 career games over the past three seasons in Tuscaloosa.
Klatt: “You’ve got to get Caleb Williams some help in front of him. … I think Booker is likely more of an interior guy, but just taking someone that can play on the offensive line and do it well is an upgrade.”
