2025 NFL Draft: Mel Kiper makes significant changes to Top 10 QB rankings

ESPN’s Mel Kiper made significant QB changes to his top 10 rankings ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. Now that we’re in mid-March, Kiper switched some things up compared to after the Scouting Combine.
The rankings are sure to change throughout the next few weeks as well. The NFL Draft is still a little over a month away.
But some familiar faces are at the top of Kiper’s list. So without further ado, let’s dive into the latest quarterback rankings for the 2025 NFL Draft.
1. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado
Sanders is still the top quarterback on Kiper’s board, although it remains to be seen if he’ll actually pass Cam Ward in the actual draft. Ward is seen as the top selection by a lot of mocks.
Still, Sanders was the most accurate quarterback you could find in college football. He consistently got better and can be an elite pocket QB at the next level. Granted, he’ll need a better offensive line!
2. Cam Ward, Miami

Ward’s concerns seem to stem from injury worries. But other than that, he has a cannon for an arm and is mobile in the pocket.
The Miami quarterback consistently got better throughout his college career and could be a franchise icon. An instant impact type of player for someone like the New York Giants or Cleveland Browns. Granted, that’s if the Titans don’t select a QB.
3. Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss
Dart remained in the No. 3 spot on Kiper’s list this time around. So, the top three are the same and you’re probably asking, where are the changes? Well, we’ll get to it.
Dart lit it up throughout his career at Ole Miss following his freshman year at USC. There was some buzz that this quarterback could actually move into the first round but perhaps that train has slowed down a little. Still, Dart could end up being a steal.
4. Tyler Shough, Louisville (+1)
Shough rose once again compared to the previous quarterback rankings from Kiper. He set career highs at Louisville following time at Oregon and Texas Tech.
At 25-years old, Shough is one of the older prospects but NFL scouts seem to like that, based on reports. It just remains to be seen where he goes in the draft at this point. Mid rounds?
5. Will Howard, Ohio State (+3)

Howard made a huge jump in this edition of the quarterback rankings. Kiper had him near the bottom of the top 10 and now the Ohio State Buckeye is in the top five.
Winning a national championship will certainly help the cause right? Howard looked good in the NFL Scouting Combine and set career highs in his lone season in Columbus. He’s a dual threat, so he’s definitely intriguing.
6. Kyle McCord, Syracuse (-2)
Because of Shough and Howard rising in the quarterback rankings, someone had to drop. McCord fell two spots in Kiper’s latest rankings.
Nothing against McCord, but it seems like the ESPN NFL Draft analyst likes those two guys better right now. But, McCord was the ACC passing leader in 2024 after using his final year at Syracuse. He looked like a different man compared to when he was at Ohio State.

7. Jalen Milroe, Alabama (-1)
Milroe fell another spot just like last week. The former Alabama quarterback has elite athleticism and can be a really good dual threat QB.
The problem is, Milroe was really inconsistent, especially in 2024. For now, he’s slipping a little bit in Kiper’s rankings.
8. Dillon Gabriel, Oregon (-1)

Gabriel is another college quarterback with tons of experience. However, he fell in Kiper’s rankings once again.
Howard basically pushed everyone down this week! Like Shough, Gabriel is older than the others, but isn’t quite getting the same love as the former Louisville gunslinger.
9. Quinn Ewers, Texas
Ewers didn’t budge in these quarterback rankings from Kiper but he does go into the NFL with some promise. But, there are some concerns.
He’s been injured and that could take its toll in the NFL. Still, Ewers is a very fine passer, despite not having gaudy numbers. But he can run too, don’t forget that!
T10. Riley Leonard, Notre Dame
Leonard is another one of these dual threat quarterbacks that is very intriguing. The former Duke and Notre Dame QB let it loose as a passer this past season.
Still, Leonard’s bread and butter is operating in a balanced offense that allows him to run too. Is he Josh Allen-esque? Who knows? But someone might take a flier on him.
T10. Kurtis Rourke, Indiana
Rourke definitely put himself on NFL scouts’ radars with his performance this past season for Indiana. The Hoosiers’ QB led them to a program best 11 wins and the College Football Playoff.
He’s still near the backend of Kiper’s quarterback rankings, but could be worth a flier in the later rounds. He’s got some moxie!
