2025 NFL Draft reaches capacity, general admission entry paused

As the 2025 NFL Draft got ready to start in Green Bay, the league announced general admission entry had been paused. The event space outside Lambeau Field reached full capacity.
The NFL expected record crowds outside Lambeau, and the league got just that Thursday night. This year’s draft was expected to provide at least a $100 million spark to the city of Green Bay as the league converged on its smallest market.
Ultimately, the NFL had to cap general admission just before the draft got underway. The draft began at 8 p.m. ET, and the announcement came down around that time.
The 2025 NFL Draft got off and running quickly after Goodell took the stage. Cam Ward, as expected, went off the board as the No. 1 overall pick to the Tennessee Titans. But from there, things got interesting.
The Cleveland Browns traded the No. 2 pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for an impressive haul. Jacksonville sent the No. 5 pick to Cleveland, along the No. 36 overall pick and No. 126 overall pick in 2025, as well as its 2026 first-rounder. In exchange, the Browns traded the No. 2 selection, the No. 104 overall pick and No. 200 pick to the Jaguars. Jacksonville then selected Travis Hunter, the dynamic two-way player out of Colorado, after the trade.

After that, the trade winds quieted down for a bit. But they picked back up in a big way with the No. 25 overall pick. The New York Giants – who took Abdul Carter with the No. 3 overall pick – traded back into the first round in a deal with the Houston Texans. New York sent the No. 34 overall selection, a 2025 third-rounder and a future sixth-round choice to Houston for the No. 25 pick.
The Giants then took a quarterback, although not the one atop Mel Kiper Jr.’s rankings. They selected Jaxson Dart out of Ole Miss, and he’ll join a quarterback room that features Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston after free agent signings. But it also meant Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders dropped to Day 2 and became one of ESPN’s top 10 best available players for the second round.
The 2025 NFL Draft continues Friday night with Rounds 2 and 3 from Green Bay on Friday. Rounds 4-7 will then close things out on Saturday.
