One of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, former Colorado star Shedeur Sanders met with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday. Afterward, he recapped it with Kay Adams and rated it “a 10.”

Sanders said he “enjoyed” the visit with the Steelers, which came two weeks before the first round of the draft gets underway from Green Bay. He said the best part of the day was simply talking football and getting to know some of the personnel around the facility.

When asked about how he’d grade the day, Sanders said it went well. In fact, he gave it the highest rating he could.

“It was a 10,” Sanders said on Up and Adams Thursday from the airport following the trip to Pittsburgh. “It was a 10.”

Sanders put together a standout senior season at Colorado in 2024, leading the nation with a 74% completion percentage. He also totaled 4,134 passing yards and 37 touchdowns while leading the Buffaloes to a bowl game as part of an impressive turnaround under his father, Deion.

In fact, Sanders sees some Coach Prime in Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. His biggest takeaway from meeting with Tomlin was the winning mentality he has, which translates to the rest of the team.

“Understanding the mindset of why they win a lot,” Sanders said. “… Just how he is as a person with the value that the team has and what he’s preaching from his staff down is similar to my dad.”

Sanders’ draft stock is shaping up to be an interesting discussion in the lead-up to Draft Day later this month. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. ranked him as the No. 1 quarterback on the board in his latest Big Board, but projected the former Colorado star to go No. 9 overall to the New Orleans Saints in his 2025 NFL Mock Draft 4.0.

If he falls out of the Top 10, though, Sanders could wind up dropping to Pittsburgh with the No. 21 overall pick. Of course, the Steelers are also squarely in the mix to sign free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Although a decision is still looming, chatter continues to grow about a deal between the two sides.

Even if Pittsburgh lands Rodgers, the sense is the franchise could still look to add a quarterback of the future through the draft. Shedeur Sanders could be that option, and if he has to sit behind a veteran quarterback as a rookie, he made it clear he’d be fine with that.

“If that’s the way that things play out, then that’s how it plays out,” Sanders said. “I wouldn’t question what God has planned for me.”
