Chase Young has found a home in New Orleans. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Young is re-signing with the Saints on a three-year, $51 million contract worth up to $57 million.

Young signed a one-year deal with the Saints last offseason and now cashes in after a productive 2024 campaign. The 25-year-old appeared in all 17 games, tallying 5.5 sacks, 31 tackles (21 solo), eight tackles for loss and a career-high 21 quarterback hits. His 46 pressures were tied for 11th in the NFL.

The 2020 No. 2 overall pick, Young’s career began with the Washington Commanders. Young was named AP Defensive Rookie of the Year but failed to reach those highs again in Washington. He suffered a torn ACL midway through the 2021 season and played in just three games the following season. The Commanders traded him to the San Francisco 49ers at the 2023 trade deadline. Young has 22 career sacks in 60 games (32 starts).

Saints lock up Chase Young for 2025 and beyond

Saints veteran defensive end Cameron Jordan has this to say when Young signed with the team last offseason: “I think Chase Young is going to be great for our defense. We already got Carl Granderson, who’s stellar these last couple of years. I think with growth him being on the opposite side when he gets the right health, physically. He’s going to be another piece we can add on.

“At some point in my mind, I’m spinning like it’s going to be me, Chase and Carl Granderson on the field at the same time on a crucial third down and I’m probably going to have to go in the middle. I don’t care. Whatever it takes. I’ll line up and be that Za’Darius Smith over the middle roaming and trying to get active. I think it adds another weapon to our defense.”

Young fit in well. He’ll return in 2025 alongside Jordan and Granderson.
