As he got ready to run the 40-yard dash at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, former Texas standout Isaiah Bond made a bold prediction. He said he could top fellow former Longhorn Xavier Worthy’s record set at last year’s event.

Bond took the field at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday to showcase his speed. However, he came up short of Worthy’s top time last year.

Bond’s first attempt came in at 4.41u seconds, and his second attempt was officially 4.39. That put him 0.19 second behind Worthy, who set an NFL Combine record at 4.20 seconds a year ago before going to the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Bond was the second-fastest former Texas star to run the 40-yard dash on Saturday. Matthew Golden led the way from the first group of receivers to participate in the event, clocking in at 4.29. That put him in the Top 10 fastest 40-yard dash times ever for a wide receiver at the event.

Bond made headlines this week during his press conference when he predicted he’d get within 4.2 seconds on the 40-yard dash. He also had 4.1 seconds in his sights as he look to beat out Worthy after his standout performance a year ago.

“I’m going to break the record tomorrow, for sure. I anticipate running 4.20 or possibly if I’m feeling great, I might run 4.1,” Bond said, via Clarence Hill Jr. of DLLS.

Bond also express confidence in his physical shape ahead of the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. He pointed to his training as a reason for his confidence heading into the 40-yard dash and he wanted to impress the NFL evaluators in attendance.

“I’ve been running my whole life,” Bond said, per Todd Archer of ESPN. “I’ve been one of the fastest my whole life so I’m going to go out there and when practice meets preparation, greatness is achieved. So, I’m just going to trust my training and put on a show.”

Isaiah Bond spent one year at Texas after transferring from Alabama. He shined as one of Quinn Ewers’ top targets, hauling in 34 catches for 540 yards and five touchdowns to help the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff semifinals.
