Day 2 of workouts at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine got underway Friday with the cornerbacks. They were the first group of defensive backs to take the field at Lucas Oil Stadium, and the Top 10 fastest 40-yard dash times out.

Kentucky’s Maxwell Hairston stole the show with a 4.28-second 40-yard dash on his second attempt. That put him at No. 5 among the all-time fastest cornerbacks in Combine history and just outside the Top 10 fastest times ever recorded at the event. Iowa State’s Darien Porter also hit 4.30 seconds on his first attempt.

There were some other impressive times, as well, including Tulane’s Caleb Ransaw and Kansas State’s Jacob Parrish. Here are the fastest 40-yard dash times for cornerbacks at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.

1. Maxwell Hairston, Kentucky – 4.28 seconds

Before Maxwell Hairston got to the starting line for his 40-yard dash, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah said he could be the fastest player at the Combine. With a 4.28-second run, he showcased his speed in front of a slew of NFL personnel.

Hairston appeared in seven games this past season at Kentucky, but made his mark in 2023 as a sophomore. He set career-highs with 60 tackles, two tackles for loss and an SEC-leading five interceptions to anchor the defense.

2. Darien Porter, Iowa State – 4.30 seconds

As a sixth-year player at Iowa State in 2024, Darien Porter had the best year of his career. His speed was a big reason why, and he showcased it with a 4.30-second 40-yard dash at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.

Porter had a strong final season in Ames to anchor the Iowa State defense. He totaled 18 tackles, two tackles for loss and the first three interceptions of his career, and will now look to take his talents to the next level.

3. Caleb Ransaw, Tulane – 4.33 seconds

After three years at Troy, Caleb Ransaw continued to be a dominant playmaker at Tulane this past season. He showcased his big-time speed, as well, with an impressive 4.33-second 40-yard dash at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.

Ransaw had 34 tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack with the Green Wave in 2024. That came after a huge 2023 campaign at Troy when he had 51 tackles, six tackles for loss and an interception as a junior.
