On one of the biggest days of the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, the skill players took center stage. Two groups of wide receivers took the field at Lucas Oil Stadium, and the Top 10 fastest 40-yard dash times are in.

All eyes were on Isaiah Bond, the former Texas star who predicted he’d break the record set by fellow former Longhorn Xavier Worthy. He came up short, though, as he clocked in at 4.39 seconds. But teammate Matthew Golden was impressive with 4.29 seconds to lead the groups.

Golden’s figure put him inside the Top 10 fastest 40-yard dash times ever for a wide receiver at the event. Here are the Top 10 fastest runs at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.

1. Matthew Golden, Texas – 4.29 seconds

The fastest wide receiver at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, Matthew Golden shined in the 40-yard dash. He clocked in at 4.29 seconds to become one of the fastest wide receivers to ever run in the event.

Golden was a key contributor at Texas in 2024 as the Longhorns made it back to the College Football Playoff semifinals. He led the SEC with nine receiving touchdowns to go with 987 receiving yards to lead the Longhorns.

2. Dont’e Thornton, Tennessee – 4.30 seconds

Tennessee’s top deep threat a year ago, Dont’e Thornton showed why he was so valuable on Rocky Top during the 40-yard dash. He came in at 4.30 seconds at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine to rank second among wide receivers.

Thornton was Nico Iamaleava’s top target for big plays this past year. He led the SEC with 25.4 yards per reception while totaling 661 yards and six touchdowns.

3. Chimere Dike, Florida – 4.34 seconds

After transferring to Florida from Wisconsin, Chimere Dike flourished as a top target for DJ Lagway and Graham Mertz. His speed was a big reason why, and he showed it with a 4.34-second run in the 40-yard dash on Saturday.

Dike had a big season in Gainesville, hauling in 42 receptions for 783 yards. He also added two touchdowns for Florida as the Gators surged toward the end of the year.

4. Jaylin Lane, Virginia Tech – 4.35 seconds

Checking in as one of the four fastest receivers in the 40-yard dash, Jaylin Lane impressed at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. He came in at 4.35 seconds to rank in the top half of wide receivers in the event.

Lane spent two years at Virginia Tech after starting his college career at Middle Tennessee State. In 2024, he had 466 receiving yards and two touchdowns after totaling 538 yards and six touchdowns in 2023.

6. Tai Felton, Maryland – 4.37 seconds

A three-year starter at Maryland, Tai Felton used his speed to light up opposing defenses. His 4.37-second run in the 40-yard dash showed what he’s capable of as a deep threat, as well.

Felton set multiple career-highs in 2024 as he hauled in 98 receptions for 1,124 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the Terrapins. With 93.7 receiving yards per game, he led the Big Ten as a senior in College Park.
