After San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody missed his third field goal on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, fellow 49ers Deebo Samuel seemingly exchanged heated words with him. The 49ers long snapper Taybor Pepper rushed to Moody’s defense, with Samuel ultimately pushing Pepper by the throat.

Pepper continued to follow Samuel and yell at him before other members of the team intervened. The missed field goal was from 49 yards out with 29 seconds left in the third quarter. The field goal would’ve given the 49ers a 13-3 lead.

Pepper isn’t your average long snapper. Standing at 6-foot-4, 245 pounds, Pepper was fearlessly stomping after Samuel as he headed to the 49ers’ sideline. Thankfully, the situation didn’t escalate any further, allowing Moody to recompose himself for when the team needed him most.

Tied 20-20 with the Buccaneers, Moody drilled a 44-yard game-winning field goal to boost the 49ers to a 23-20 triumph. Deebo Samuel also found a happy ending, finishing the game with five catches for 62 yards.

The inaccurate performance was uncharacteristic for Moody. The former Michigan standout had made 13-14 field-goal attempts in the 2024 campaign before Sunday. Additionally, he’d made all 12 of his extra-point attempts.

Viking RB Aaron Jones carted off the field

In the Vikings’ matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Minnesota running back Aaron Jones suffered an apparent injury to his side and was carted to the locker room. Before leaving the game, Jones recorded 71 rushing yards on 13 carries.

Jones seemingly suffered the injury when he was crushed between two Jaguars defenders at once. If Jones’ injury keeps him out for an extended period, it will be a significant loss for the Vikings.

Jones entered the game on Sunday with 565 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. Running back Ty Chandler has the second-most rushing yards for the Vikings, with a mere 151.

Jones’ hasn’t only been a threat in the ground game this season. He also boasts 26 catches for 245 yards and a score in the 2024 campaign. This is Jones’ first season with the Vikings. He signed with the organization on March 12 after spending seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers.
