49ers star Deebo Samuel on track to play against Jaguars
Sagging San Francisco received some good news on the injury front — Deebo Samuel should be able to play Sunday against the Jaguars.
In addition, All Pro offensive left tackle Trent Williams also could see action in the key NFC matchup. Both players would give the 49ers offense an immediate boost and help them end their three-game losing streak. Both Samuel (shoulder) and Williams (ankle) were injured on the road against the Browns last month. That was the first defeat of the three straight.
“Deebo, that’s welcome,” said 49ers GM John Lynch. “Obviously, a fantastic player. He adds a lot to us in terms of energy and then just who he is as a player.”
Samuel’s presence should help a great deal. In their losing streak, San Fran is stuck on 17 points. That’s all they’ve scored in each of the last three games, losses against the Browns, Vikings and Bengals. The last time everyone was relatively healthy, the 49ers overwhelmed the Cowboys, 42-10.
Samuel, a hybrid receiver/running back, suffered shoulder fracture in first loss of season
Samuel suffered a hairline fracture in his shoulder early in the loss to the Browns. He talked to reporters Thursday about how difficult it is to miss games.

“Any time, not being part of the game is hard, but I’ve been there before,” said Samuel, who has practiced all week. “It’s a mental thing just getting back and getting ready to play. Just taking it day by day, getting ready for the game on Sunday.”
Samuel added: “Our backs have been against the wall for the past two years,” Samuel said. “We made the best out of that opportunity. Overall we just want to get back to winning and whatever it takes to get there.”
It’s not going to be easy to snap the losing streak. The 49ers, who had a bye last Sunday, face a rested Jaguars team on the road. Jacksonville is 6-2 and winners of the last five games.
