San Francisco 49ers George Kittle lost a bet as he was seen wearing UCLA gear while speaking to reporters on Thursday. Kittle had on a gold UCLA helmet with a blue sweater, and it came after UCLA defeated Iowa 20-17 on Friday.

While speaking to reporters, Kittle revealed who he made the bet with. “I’m just a big Bruins fan this week,” he said jokingly. “No, the Hawks did not get it done against UCLA. Both [Jake] Brendel and one of our equipment managers put me up to this one. This feels better than Iowa State, I will say. Significantly better.”

Kittle played for Iowa from 2012 to 2016. In his career with the Hawkeyes, Kittle caught 48 passes for 737 yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2017, the 49ers selected Kittle in the fifth round of the NFL Draft and is now one of the best tight ends in the league.

Despite the 49ers’ struggles in 2024, Kittle is having a strong first half of the season. Through eight games, Kittle has caught 43 passes for 560 yards and seven touchdowns.

But the one thing Kittle wants to do this season is win a Super Bowl, while speaking with DJ Siddiqi of Forbes, Kittle talked about how the 49ers can get back to the championship game for the second consecutive season.

“My No. 1 objective is stay healthy for the whole season because if I’m healthy, I can help our team win a Super Bowl,” Kittle said. “Besides that, the 49ers — us as a team — our goal is to win the Super Bowl. We have the team for it, we have the athletes for it, we have the coaches for it. We have everything we need, we just need to go out and make plays, stay healthy, and win games.”

Kittle later added: “We just need to make more plays. I don’t think every single person was incredibly happy with their performance, I feel most guys feel like they could have played better. I don’t know if we played at the level that we had played at the entire season. Guys just don’t feel like we played our best game out there.”
