Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers reach agreement on restructured $11 million salary in 2023

Roster questions are the talk of the town with the Green Bay Packers. It starts with Aaron Rodgers and works all the way down the franchise. However, one name that now appears certain to return to Lambeau Field next season is Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones.
That’s because, per Adam Schefter, Jones and the Packers have agreed on a restructuring that will pay him $11 million next season with a signing bonus included as well.
As part of Jones’ four-year, $48 million contract that he signed back in March of 2021, there was a potential out in the deal this offseason. It appears both sides, though, had a mutual interest in reworking things in a way that would allow him to return in the end.
Jones has spent all six seasons of his NFL career as a Packer. In that time, he has been the biggest part of the team’s offensive attack that didn’t include Rodgers or Davante Adams. Jones has rushed for 5,284 yards in his career as a three-time 1,000-yard rusher while also scoring 43 touchdowns on the ground. That includes a league-leading 16 rushing touchdowns in 2019.
Jones has also been a key target out of the backfield with 242 catches, 1,843 receiving yards, and 17 more touchdowns.

Green Bay needed some stability with several question marks across their roster this offseason, especially on offense. Nailing down Jones at least is a really good start to hopefully bringing back some level of continuity to what they do on that side of the ball next season.
WATCH: Adam Schefter shares sky-high starting point for Jalen Hurts contract negotiations
Jalen Hurts can’t afford to take another snap under his rookie deal. In fact, ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter almost guaranteed that the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback will have a new contract by the time the 2023-24 season rolls around.
The deal could be worth more than $45 million.
“It would be an upset if that deal didn’t get done this offseason. The advantage they have enjoyed is having Jalen Hurts under a rookie contract — a minimum wage rookie contract — will go away,” Schefter said on NFL Live. “All of those free agents you see out there will be worth more once Jalen Hurts gets $45 million dollars. To me, that’s the starting point.
“It may not be close to the ultimate figure it ultimately comes in. (Hurts) has proven himself as a top-five quarterback in this league. He was just a few plays away from taking his team to its second world title. He is going to get paid royally this offseason along with the other quarterbacks that are due for a deal.”
