Things got a bit testy at the end of the Sunday Night Football matchup between the Packers and Vikings. Minnesota defender Andrew Booth was getting up in the face of a Green Bay player. That’s when Packers’ running back Aaron Jones decided to help diffuse the situation, grab Booth’s facemask, and drive him ten yards towards the Vikings’ sideline.

Jones was inadvertently hit in the face, that’s when he decided to get involved in the scuffle. Luckily for the Packers and Vikings, cooler heads prevailed on New Year’s Eve and things calmed down.

Following the game, Jones spoke about the fight with NBC’s Melissa Stark. “We were walking out to shake hands and then I seen one of our players have an interaction with a Vikings player. We just finished playing. And they get in each other’s face going at it. And then start shoving. So, I just kind of tried to de-escalate it. Move them to the sideline. And we were good after that,” Jones said.

The Packers blew out the Vikings, 33-10. The end result was never in doubt as Green Bay cruised to an easy victory on New Year’s Eve. Packers quarterback Jordan Love posted another excellent performance, completing 24 of 33 passes for 256 yards, while tossing three touchdowns with no interceptions. He also ran for a touchdown, pushing his total to four on the night.

Aaron Jones has had a pretty disappointing year by his standards, but he’s found a groove the past two games. Jones has rushed for over 120 yards in back-to-back games (against the Panthers and Vikings). On Sunday Night Football, he ran for 120 yards on 20 carries.

This year, he’s had 120 total carries for 545 rushing yards and two touchdowns. As a receiver, he’s hauled in 25 catches for 203 yards and a touchdown. Jones has had three 1,000-yard rushing seasons in his career so far (2019, 2020, and 2022). His best receiving year came in 2019, when he hauled in 474 yards and three touchdowns.

Green Bay Packers Playoff hopes

All the Packers need to do is win their Week 18 matchup against the Chicago Bears, and they’re in the 2024 NFL Playoffs. It’s that simple. Green Bay currently controls their own destiny, thanks to the blowout victory on Sunday Night Football against the Vikings. Green Bay rookie receiver Jayden Reed continues to impress. He hauled in two touchdown passes against the Vikings, pushing his season total to 10.
