Aaron Rodgers addresses decision on NFL future after Jets’ Week 18 win over Dolphins
Aaron Rodgers addressed the decision on his future in the NFL after the New York Jets’ win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. While speaking with Pam Oliver of Fox Sports, Rodgers said he’ll make a decision soon.
“I’m gonna get home and relax… But I’m not going to hold anybody up,” Rodgers said. “I’ll have conversations tomorrow with the Jets to see what they’re thinking, and then we will make a decision before it gets too late in the offseason.”
The 2024 season was not a memorable one for Rodgers. While he put up modest numbers, Rodgers had one of the lowest passer ratings in his career while suffering the most losses in a season as a starter (12).
Ahead of the Dolphins game, Rodgers acknowledged the Dolphins games could be the final game of his NFL career. “This game has given me a lot,” he said, per ESPN. “I’ve given a lot back to it, and I’m thankful for it. I won’t be thinking about that on game day. I’ll just be enjoying this. I’m trying to stay in the moment, but, of course, it’s been a long career. I’m really proud of what I’ve been able to be a part of, what I’ve been able to accomplish, and I’m also looking forward to a nice mental and physical rest.”

Aaron Rodgers ‘disappointed’ about his performance this season
Aaron Rodgers joined the Jets in 2023 after spending his first 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers. He missed nearly all of the 2023 season due to a torn Achilles. Before the 2024 season began, the Jets were considered a Super Bowl contender, but Rodgers has not lived up to expectations, throwing 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 17 games. While those numbers seem to be strong, it’s just the fourth time in Rodgers’ career he has thrown double-digit interceptions in a season.
“I’m disappointed about the performance with myself and as a team, but really thankful for the opportunity,” Rodgers said last week. “If I feel good coming back and they want to make another run at this, that’d be fantastic, but I’m not naive to the situation we’re in.”
During his time with the Packers, Rodgers was selected to the Pro Bowl 10 times, named to the All-Pro Team five times, led the NFL in passer rating four times, won the NFL MVP award four times and led the Packers to a Super Bowl title during the 2010 season. Rodgers is the all-time leader in regular season career passer rating and is a member of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.
