Aaron Rodgers has seen all kinds of quarterbacks come and go over his career in the NFL. One of the newer ones, though, in Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts has caught his eye.

Rodgers had plenty of positives to share about Richardson during his appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on Tuesday. When discussing Indianapolis, he shared his belief that the Colts’ rookie and top-five pick could end up being “really special” before he is all said and done.

“The young kid they got there, Richardson? He has got a chance to be really special,” Rodgers said.

However, Rodgers did have one critique of Richardson. Considering he is about to already miss time again this season with a sprain of his AC joint, he suggested that the first-year quarterback take some notes on when to slide in order to protect himself and his career.

“Now, like I tell a lot of young quarterbacks? Sometimes you’ve got to slide, though. He’s a big strong dude. I tell this to Josh Allen all the time, he had been doing it for a while. But, like, every now and then there’s a time and a place for you to run somebody over,” said Rodgers. “Those plays are not, really, sustainable long, long term, that way of playing.”

“He’s going to learn and I think he’ll have a nice, long career in the league,” Rodgers said.

Through four appearances this season, Richardson has completed just under 60% of his passes for 577 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. He has also rushed for an additional 136 yards and four more scores.

With that said, two of those appearances have been cut short as he suffered a concussion in his second game and will now miss a few games after his sprain against the Titans last weekend.

There’s no questioning Richardson’s potential if he can remain healthy and stay on his trajectory. That’s why Rodgers is in on him and willing to give the rookie a word of advice to maximize his chances.

Rodgers reacts to CJ Stroud’s ‘incredible’ start to rookie season

It seems Houston Texans QB CJ Stroud has an admirer in NFL veteran Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers joined The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday and spoke about the awesome start that the former Ohio State quarterback is off to in the NFL. He elaborated on why he believes Stroud has been so impressive.

“It’s incredible. It really is. You know, ball security is job security and he has done an incredible job of that,” Rodgers started. “I would be interested to look at how many, I think, because they track this. And, again, I think some of it is subjective in nature. But they track the number of, like, turnover-worthy plays. And I’d be interested to see how many throws were in that category because I feel like, overall, he has been doing a fantastic job of taking care of the football, not, like, having plays where, ‘Oh, that should’ve been picked’ or ‘That was a bad read’. I don’t feel like, in the few times I’ve seen him on the RedZone channel when the games have been on, he hasn’t been making bad decisions.”

“Just, again, I don’t know him at all, but, from afar, I do appreciate he seems to be a really humble kid,” said Rodgers. “He’s got his head screwed on the right way. He’s a tough kid.”

“186 throws without a pick to start a career? That’s phenomenal. I think the most important stat is it’s not like he’s throwing for 150 yards a game. He was averaging I think 300 a game before this last game,” Rodgers said. “So big props to CJ. Great start to his career and, again, ball security is job security.”
