Aaron Rodgers biography in the works for 2024 release
A biography on the enigma that is Aaron Rodgers is just months away from release. Author Ian O’Connor revealed on Wednesday that his new book, Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers, is available for pre-order ahead of its August release.
“I was asked why I’m pulling for a #Jets #Packers Super Bowl,” O’Connor tweeted this week with a link to pre-order. “Here’s why: My upcoming biography of Aaron Rodgers. I saw him recently & he looks pretty jacked in the upper body. He confirmed he got bigger. Looks ready for a fight.”
O’Connor has written four New York Times bestsellers so far in his career. He’s the author of Coach K: The Rise and Reign of Mike Krzyzewski; Belichick: The Making of the Greatest Football Coach of All Time; Arnie & Jack: Palmer, Nicklaus, and Golf’s Greatest Rivalry; and The Captain: The Journey of Derek Jeter.
The sportswriter managed to write the biography of Belichick without even talking to the former Patriots head coach. After penning an article in 2000 about how the Patriots would regret hiring the eventual six-time Super Bowl winner, O’Connor was rejected for an interview with the legend. Instead, he talked to hundreds of Belichick’s associates to paint the full picture. For Rodgers’ biography, it sounds like O’Connor received all the access he needed.

‘Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers’
With the book now available for pre-order, fans can read the blurb for a taste of what’s to come:
“As Rodgers launches his comeback and his bid to lead the Jets to a championship, acclaimed sports biographer Ian O’Connor uses hundreds of original interviews to pull back the curtain and answer the most penetrating questions about perhaps the country’s most famous and most enigmatic athlete. Just like he did in his previous works on Bill Belichick, Mike Krzyzewski, Derek Jeter, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, O’Connor reveals all sides of an all-time great and delivers a portrait of a complex man and four-time NFL MVP that will forever shape the way football fans view him.”
The new biography will explore every aspect of Rodgers’ life from his upbringing and estrangement from his family to his trade from the Packers to the Jets and subsequent Achilles tear in the season-opener. The release date is August 13, which is right around the start of NFL preseason games this year. Rodgers will be back on the field for the Jets by the book’s release date after nearly making his return in 2023.
