Aaron Rodgers breaks down Jordan Love, Packers’ Monday Night Football performance
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love had a tough outing on Monday Night Football, throwing three interceptions in the team’s 17-13 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has quite literally been in Love’s shoes and spent the last four seasons of his tenure in Green Bay with Love backing him up at quarterback. And on Tuesday’s episode of ‘The Pat McAfee Show’, Rodgers spoke about Love’s last game and the beginning of his first season as a starter.
“Yeah I sent him a message last night, I love Jordan he’s a great kid,” Rodgers said. “I think he’s showed a lot of things early in the season. He’s shown the ability to throw the ball down the field, he’s very athletic, feel like he’s had a number of really nice look offs, and just a number of plays that kind of the average fan is gotta be like oh, this guy is gonna be around here for a while. This guy can really play.”
Love has led the Packers to a 2-3 start in his first five games, throwing for 1,083 yards, eight touchdowns, and now six interceptions following last night. His play, particularly versus the Raiders, has definitely come with some scrutiny, but Rodgers gave some insight on managing that criticism.
“As we’ve seen in New York and Jersey with our young stud, week to week the narrative can really change. It can be you’re not the guy and this is a mistake one week and the next week you’re gonna be around for 15 years and that’s the overreaction of our league,” Rodgers explained. “The important thing is as a quarterback is trying to keep the confidence, not kind of not get into all the bull—-, realize this is part of it. There’s gonna be ups and downs in your career, ups and down on the season, and just gotta keep pushing through, you gotta be the same guy every single day, you gotta inspire your teammates and bring that consistency.”

Rodgers also took a look specifically into Love’s showing versus the Raiders and some of the struggles he faced specific to that matchup.
“They got a bye week coming up and then going to I believe Denver I think after that. So a good chance to bounce back for them. But love Jordan and obviously watching the game there’s things about the offense that I know because I ran a similar offense there so I have an idea about what they’re trying to do,” Rodgers said. “I felt like kinda like in our game there were times in the red zone where maybe they weren’t as aggressive as they could’ve been. Obviously he got unlucky on the tipped interception, the other one he probably just didn’t see the inside backer there on the strike route.”
Green Bay’s offense has had their struggles this season, rushing for just 81.6 yards per game this year and failing to generate 300 yards of offense for their second straight week. But Rodgers is confident in his former protege and believes that Green Bay’s fan base should be as well moving forward.
“But listen, there’s gonna be growing pains, I had growing pains my rookie year, we all go through it. I’m sorry not my rookie year, my first year starting, my fourth year like him. He’s gonna be just fine, like I said, he’s a great kid. They got a young team, they’ve had some injuries. I would just say to the Packer fans just take some deep breaths, just trust this kid, he’s a great kid, he cares about it, he’s gonna be around for a while, and they’re gonna get it fixed,” Rodgers concluded.
