Aaron Rodgers reveals details of final drive, faith in Mason Crosby

After winning on Sunday night with a memorable game-winning drive and field goal, Aaron Rodgers explained that “he knew” Mason Crosby would make the kick. The Packers received the ball with 37 seconds left in the game and trailing by one point. Rodgers led them 42 yards down the field and into field goal position, where Crosby won the game with time expiring.

“He’s going to make it. That’s what he’s done his entire career. He’s made a bunch of big kicks for us. I love him to death. We’ve been playing together for 15 years, sitting next to each other every bus ride, every plane ride. He’s an incredible guy. And he’s so clutch,” Rodgers told NBC Sports’ Michele Tafoya about Mason Crosby’s game-winning 51-yard field goal.

Rodgers’ excitement at his team’s performance on the final drive of the game was evident on the field. Following a second huge catch by Adams, Rodgers spiked the ball to stop the clock and could be seen leaving the field while pumping his fist before the kicking unit was even on the field.

Rodgers had even more to say about his excitement for the game while explaining the play that put them in field goal range.

“Throw it to Tae[Davante Adams]. That’s my first thought. Matt [LaFleur] actually suggested that play on the sideline, that first play, which was something we actually worked on Friday at practice — kinda scribbling in the dirt. And, it worked out perfect. Just put it right over Fred’s head. Got us kinda down here a little bit. We needed one more play. How can you not be romantic about football,” Rodgers told NBC Sport’s Michele Tafoya when asked about the final drive.

Davante Adams’ huge night

Coming into Sunday night’s game against the 49ers, Davante Adams held the record for most consecutive Sunday Night Football games with a touchdown. With his first quarter touchdown, he pushed his record to ten-straight endzone appearances on the Sunday night program.

Despite a scary moment late where Adams took a helmet-to-helmet hit that was not flagged as a penalty, Adams delivered two huge completions on the Packers final drive.

In three games this season, Adams has racked up 25 catches for 310 yards and a touchdown.

In their last two games, Rodgers has posted 516 yards with six touchdowns and zero interceptions.
