Packers rookie Sean Clifford receives Aaron Rodgers jersey
Sean Clifford and Aaron Rodgers were never really teammates in Green Bay, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have immense respect for the Packers legend.
Clifford was drafted by the franchise in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft in the same week the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets. While it was an unceremonious exit from the franchise for Rodgers, Clifford is just beginning what he hopes to be a long NFL career in Green Bay.
As the former Penn State Nittany Lions gets acquainted with the NFL, someone must’ve heard Clifford is a fan. Check out the house warming gift Clifford received of Rodgers’ jersey, which is perfect for the freshly-minted Packers quarterback.
“Not a bad a house warming gift…thank you! @Fanatics @AaronRodgers12 #GoPackGo,” tweeted Clifford, accompanying a photo of the beautiful present.
That’s a pretty awesome thing for the rookie, even if they’ll never be teammates in the NFL.
Nevertheless, young quarterbacks like Sean Clifford look up to players like Aaron Rodgers, so regardless of the beef between the veteran quarterback and the Packers, it pretty sweet.
Time will tell if Clifford has an illustrious NFL career like Rodgers does, but a little inspiration every time he walks in the door of his home won’t hurt.

More on Sean Clifford, Green Bay Packers
Moreover, Sean Clifford is entering the NFL with a bit of a chip on his shoulders, as he believes he was “snubbed” from the NFL Scouting Combine during the NFL Draft process. However, it thankfully didn’t impede his ability to get drafted, as Green Bay must’ve liked what they saw with the former Big Ten star.
“I feel like I was snubbed with the Combine for sure,” Clifford said. “The body of work that I’ve had with these teams here; when I didn’t see my name as a Combine guy, I felt disrespected for sure. But, hey, it’s just more fuel to the fire.”
During his Penn State career, Clifford finished with 10,661 yards, 86 touchdowns, 31 interceptions and a 61.4% completion percentage. He added 1,073 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns.
As a member of the Class of 2017, Clifford was a four-star recruit out of Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 4 overall prospect in the state, the No. 12 quarterback in the class and the No. 183 overall prospect in the class.
