Aaron Rodgers gives update on his Achilles recovery
Aaron Rodgers‘ first season with the New York Jets ended pretty abruptly. After just a handful of plays in the opening week, the four-time NFL MVP suffered an Achilles injury that will cost him the rest of the year.
On Tuesday, Rodgers made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show — as he does each week. While he doesn’t really get into specifics about his status, he did provide an update about his recovery.
“It’s been operating. I mean, there’s been some good days and some bad days, for sure,” Rodgers said. “But last week was a good week of recovery and had a good day yesterday. Sunday was the lightest day since I started rehab, and also the worst day I’ve had in a while. Yesterday was a good day, today is a good day, making a lot of progress.
“Every day it’s something — a little less swelling, little more movement, little more mobility, little more strength. So, we’re building up. Just a process.”
During the show, co-host A.J. Hawk asked Rodgers if he’d received information from the outside and how he handles that aspect of his recovery.
“I spent the first 24 hours just researching a lot of it and, during that time, a lot of people did reach out with the answers,” Rodgers said. “I appreciated it, I looked at most of those things and articles and ideas. But, in the end, I gotta put it together with the people that I trust in my inner circle.”
The Jets recorded a 22-16 win over the Buffalo Bills in the opener, the game Rodgers went down. But since then, New York has struggled offensively.

The Jets dropped a 30-10 game to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2 and lost Sunday’s game to the New England Patriots, 15-10. Although Robert Saleh has said the offense belongs to Zach Wilson, the team might have to think about making a change.
And they might already be on that path. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, New York plans to sign veteran quarterback Trevor Siemian ahead of a Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Siemian last saw action in 2022, appearing in two games for the Chicago Bears. He had 15 completions for 184 yards with a touchdown and an interception last season.
Will the Jets look to replace Wilson moving forward? Or was this just a move to add some depth at the position?
