Aaron Rodgers will be the starting quarterback of the New Orleans Saints in 2022. Well, according to his former teammate on the Green Bay Packers, at least.

“Next year,” Blackmon said, per TMZ Sports. “Aaron Rodgers will be a New Orleans Saint.”

From 2006 to 2009, Blackmon was teammates with Rodgers in Green Bay. He saw first hand Rodgers meteoric rise from Brett Favre’s backup, to one of the league’s premier quarterbacks.

As Rodgers’ former teammate predicts the quarterback is on his way to New Orleans, Jameis Winston is trying to replace Drew Brees in 2021. Unfortunately for Winston, Blackmon believes the quarterback’s habit of turning the football over could lead to Rodgers intercepting the job in 2022.

If the prediction comes true, the Saints would go from one sure-fire Hall of Fame quarterback to another. Of course, Drew Brees retired from the NFL following the 2020 season.

Last season, Rodgers proved his mettle in a game against Brees’ Saints in New Orleans. In the game, the Packers defeated the Saints, 37-30. Rodgers passed for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns in the game.

The Latest on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, the dominating story of the NFL off-season was Rodgers’ relationship with the Green Bay Packers. Specifically, the well-documented riff between the quarterback and general manager Brian Gutekunst.

Earlier this week, Rodgers spoke on his relationship with the general manager.

“I think it’s a work in progress,” Rodgers says, per Around the NFL writer Nick Shook. “I think relationships aren’t formed in the matter of a couple days. There’s time where the respect grows and the communication follows. I think the greatest relationships that you have with your friends and loved ones involve conversations and flow. You can not talk to a close friend for a few months and pick up right where you left off.”

While their relationship may be frayed, Gutekunst recognized how vital Rodgers is to his team’s success. After agreeing to a reworked contract and stipulations to bring the quarterback back to Green Bay, he also traded for wide receiver Randall Cobb, a move spearheaded by Rodgers.

When asked about the trade, Gutekunst credited Rodgers going to bat for Cobb as the main reason why it was made.

“I think that was a big part of it,” Gutekunst said last week. “Without Aaron, I don’t know if we would be pursuing that. He’s still a really good player.”

Saints fans would embrace Rodgers in a heartbeat, and Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is giving them a sliver of hope. Prior to the Hall of Fame Game last Thursday, Glazer provided insight into Rodgers’ relationship with the Packers.

“As for the Packers, they have about six months to repair that relationship with Rodgers,” Glazer said, on the Fox Hall of Fame Game pregame show. “If at the end of this year Aaron Rodgers decides he wants out, they have to trade Aaron Rodgers. They’ve agreed to it already.”

If Rodgers does indeed want out, New Orleans seems like a pretty awesome place to play. In the process, he’d lend credence to his former teammates’ predictions about his future.
