Aaron Rodgers injury had major implications on Cowboys-Jets betting lines
Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers‘ Achilles injury on Monday night has had, as expected, a major impact on the betting lines for their Week 2 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys were already the favored by three points after taking down the Giants in shutdown fashion 40-0 but now, with the Jets facing Dallas without the former NFL MVP, the line has shifted to 8.5 points.
Unsurprisingly, the moment Rodgers went to the x-ray room with a boot on his foot and Twitter doctors got close-up footage of the moment his Achilles appeared to snap, bettors began hammering the spread for the Cowboys.
As of Tuesday morning, the Jets are still waiting on the official confirmation of Rodgers’ injury from his MRI. Once the confirmation comes in, the line could shift even more dramatically.
Also between now and Sunday, New York could add another quarterback to the roster. For now, it appears that they’ll move ahead with backup Zach Wilson, but there are options out there if they want some competition.
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones addressed the Jets’ unfortunate situation on Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan.
“I was sick for everybody,” Jones said. “We’re all sick. You don’t want to see that.”
Elsewhere in the league, the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings have a quick turnaround after Week 1 heading into Thursday Night Football with the Eagles favored by seven points.
