Aaron Rodgers on his New York Jets trade decision: 'Stay tuned. It won't be long'
If Aaron Rodgers wants to be a New York Jet, he will be one.
Former NFL receiver Brandon Marshall got the most out of Rodgers during a brief interview on Saturday, but Rodgers isn’t budging on his ultimate decision.
“Well, I think it won’t be long. There’s a time limit for all this,” Rodgers said.
Rodgers and the Jets had an in-person meeting last week, and New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is is “excited and satisfied” about the potential of Rodgers coming aboard.
In 2022, Rodgers led the Packers to a 9-8 record and missed out on the postseason, and finished with 3,695 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on the season. In March of last year, he signed a three-year, $150 million deal, $60 million of which comes due this season. The Jets seem more than willing to pay him that money.

“Very few players play for only one team. Brett [Favre] had a great career here. Aaron had a great career here. Regardless of what happens, Aaron will be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He will be in our hall of fame. We will bring him back and retire his number,” Murphy said. “But this is just one of the things that you go through as a team. We want to try to achieve something that is good for both Aaron and us.”
If the former NFL MVP and the Packers part ways, that gives Jordan Love the green light to be the Packers’ starter after three seasons under Rodgers’ wing. Or, Green Bay could turn its attention toward the NFL Draft, which has a fairly deep quarterback class that could see four taken in the top 10.
