Aaron Rodgers on potential broadcasting career: 'The answer is no'
Aaron Rodgers won’t follow former quarterbacks Tom Brady and Tony Romo into broadcasting, like AJ Hawk suggested.
During his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Hawk tried to get a new answer out of Rodgers about his post-playing career. Fans might be curious considering the bad season for the New York Jets and the uncertain future surrounding Rodgers and the team.
But right now, he’s focused on football, finishing the season and playing a little while longer.
“One of the things I really love about you, and I love about this show, is that you can sit there with your fake books behind you and your Gatorade cup between your legs and you can ask me a question,” Rodgers said to Hawk. “That’s a rhetorical question, Woodcock, because you already know the answer to that, but you can ask it with a straight face to try and get people to think that I’m going to give I’m going to give a new answer. That’s what I (expletive) love about you … The answer is no.”
Romo and Brady were hired after their playing days were done and immediately thrust onto the No. 1 broadcast team on CBS and FOX, respectively. Romo, to his credit, came out of the gate hot and was a highly respected analyst.
Since then, he’s been a mixed bag according to critics. Brady, meanwhile, took a year in between his football retirement and his first foray into broadcasting.
Perhaps it took a few weeks, but Brady settled into his role as FOX’s No. 1 analyst and will call the Super Bowl with Kevin Burkhardt this season. Rodgers doesn’t want that life apparently.
In fact, Rodgers is ready to go off into the darkness, or something, when his playing days are done.

“After this thing is done, you’re not gonna see me,” Rodgers said. “You’ll see me, maybe in, you know, in Tahoe, you’ll see me if I, you know, ever go back to Green Bay in four or five years, and then that’s about it.”
The Jets are 3-9 this season and have lost eight of their last nine games. Rodgers has 2,627 yards, 19 touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 62.5% completion percentage.
Unfortunately for the future Hall of Famer, his pedestrian stats did not elevate the Jets to playoff status after missing virtually the entire season last year (he played four plays).
While Rodgers had his moments in 2024, he didn’t have enough or others faltered around him. That included the firings of head coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas.
As far as the future, perhaps Rodgers will be back on the Jets in 2025 or elsewhere. But one thing’s for sure: he won’t be in a booth welcoming you to a game as you watch on television.
