Kirk Cousins’ season came to a disappointing end in Week 8 after the Vikings QB1 tore his Achilles. However, if he needs any more advice, a former NFC North foe and another high-profile quarterback who’s dealing with an Achilles injury is willing to let him know anything he may need.

Jets QB Aaron Rodgers spoke about Cousins’ injury during his weekly appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on Tuesday. He said that he has already spoken to Cousins to start this week. He offered him advice and words of encouragement as he hates that his season ended this way as well.

“Yeah, I talked to a couple different people yesterday who had mentioned that he might want to reach out,” explained Rodgers. “I asked them to pass along his number, actually got to talk on the phone with him yesterday.”

“I really like Kirk. I’ve competed against him over the years, I have a lot of respect for him,” Rodgers said. “Just got to talk to him, hopefully encourage him a little bit. It sucks, definitely sucks. He was playing really, really well.”

Through eight games this season, Cousins had passed for 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and five interceptions overall on 69.5% completion.

Following an 0-3 start for Minnesota, he really helped them turn it around. In their recent 4-1 stretch, Cousins completed 68.9% of his passes for 251.2 yards per game and nine touchdowns.

Cousins’ diagnosis is more crushing as he is certain to miss the remainder of the season. Minnesota has since traded for former Cardinals’ QB Josh Dobbs to offset the loss of Cousins.

In Rodgers’ case, though, he is still hoping for a potential return since his tear took place in New York’s opener. That’s why, with an extra few weeks of rehab behind him, Rodgers is hoping to be as much of an aide as he can be to Cousins as he moves forward.

“Disappointed for him and that injury,” said Rodgers. “Passed along all the information I could, let him know what’s been working for me. Not sure what he ends up doing.”

“Because the rehab has been great, because I feel so good? Obviously, people have been interested in what I’m doing. And I’ve just been passing along what’s been working for me,” said Rodgers.

Rodgers shares new update on Achilles recovery

Just two months after suffering from a torn Achilles on the very first drive of his Week 1 debut, Aaron Rodgers continues to defy the odds and progress at an impressive pace in his recovery.

Rodgers was spotted on the field before the Jets’ matchup with the New York Giants taking some light drop-backs and throwing some passes on Sunday, showing off some impressive steps in his rehab process.

Rodgers recently spoke about the moment he had on the field this weekend during warmups and the miraculous strides he’s taking in his recovery on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on Tuesday.

“I mean that felt great honestly,” Rodgers said. “I got my super dad shoes on, they’re the rockers. You can tell they have basically a little half-circle on the bottom that allows me to get from my heel to my mid-foot to my toe pretty easily.”

“Last week was a tough week of rehab. But we kind of adjusted some things with the shoes and with my insoles. And later in the week? I really started to progress kind of back on to what I was doing three days before that. That was honestly the goal,” Rodgers said. “To just kind of keep on getting better, be able to do a little more. I’ve been doing more in my rehab and feeling like I can kind of get into a little abbreviated left-right, left-right drop. It just felt normal.”

Rodgers surely looked closer to his normal self than many imagined at this point of his rehab, as he looks to continue progressing physically and staying positive and engaged with the team mentally as well.

“Just to get out there and throw. Mess around with Timmy a little bit and play catch and feel like I was a part of it. That’s what it’s all about, that’s why I’ve been flying back here to see the guys. Encourage them, be on the headset. But, yeah, for me, that’s just fun to be able to feel like kind of a part of it and not too distant from the squad,” Rodgers concluded.
