The first three weeks of the 2023 NFL season have been bumpy for the New York Jets. The team saw Aaron Rodgers suffer a season-ending injury early in Week 1 and are off to a 1-2 start. Already, there are signs of the squad potentially melting down. Not a good sign just a few games into the year.
And Rodgers hasn’t been a fan of what he’s seen thus far. It’s not really the losing that bothers him right now. He says teammates pointing fingers, fans going off the rails and former players criticizing has been a bit of an eye-opener.
Some are already hitting the panic button when it comes to the Jets in 2023. Rodgers said that shouldn’t be the case during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
“This is what teams have to go through. There’s adversity points in every season,” Rodgers said. “This year, it’s happening early and people are coming for us. And there’s some heated conversations on the sideline, and I think we need to hold our poise a little bit better.
“We need to understand this is part of it. It’s not always gonna be pretty. The most important thing is winning. … There’s been too many little side conversations. We need to just grow up a little bit on offense and lock in and do our jobs.”
After getting a Week 1 win over the Bills, the Jets dropped consecutive games to the Cowboys and Patriots, scoring just 10 points in each contest. It’s prompted many to call for the Jets to make a change from Zach Wilson at quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers provides update on recovery
While on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers also provided an update about his rehab. While he didn’t get into specifics, he did talk about the progress.
“It’s been operating. I mean, there’s been some good days and some bad days, for sure,” Rodgers said. “But last week was a good week of recovery and had a good day yesterday. Sunday was the lightest day since I started rehab, and also the worst day I’ve had in a while. Yesterday was a good day, today is a good day, making a lot of progress.
“Every day it’s something — a little less swelling, little more movement, little more mobility, little more strength. So, we’re building up. Just a process.”
Rodgers also talked about one of the most difficult parts of not being around the team.
“It sucks not being there. It’s tough, it’s really hard” Rodgers said. “I miss the guys, miss the leadership opportunity, miss ballin’, competin’.”
