Each week, it seemed as if Aaron Rodgers was knocking down a new milestone in his Achilles injury recovery. However, it seemed as if last week, he hit an inflection point.

It’s not always going to be a giant leap when you’re coming back from an injury like Rodgers’ suffered. Sometimes, the improvements are much smaller, and much more gradual. Evidently, that’s the point the Jets star quarterback has reached.

Joining The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, Rodgers provided some insight into what he’s going through at the moment.

“It’s been a tough week of rehab. It’s been kind of smaller gains,” Rodgers said. “I think when you get to a certain point, you’re not maybe having the jumps, that I did early on. You’re out of the boot, then you’re in the shoe. … It’s been more of a grind in the last week or so, but a lot of good things, we’re training towards.

“You know, it’s just a matter of trying to get down to 100% walking, like as far as it looking normal, and then after that, there’s progressions that I think will maybe start to take a bigger jump. But once I can get to walking normal in a shoe, which is close, really close, then we’ll make a jump.”

At the least, Rodgers still feels like he’s making progress. His Jets have a fascinating showdown this weekend, as they’ll stay in MetLife Stadium as the designated road team, facing off against the New York Giants, as they do every fourth year in the NFL.

During Monday’s edition of the ManningCast, Rodgers made plans to play a little catch before the game with former Giants star and two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning, which would be a tremendous sight if it comes to fruition.

“I invited Eli [Manning] last night to play a little catch with me, maybe on Sunday. Planning on being back for our game as the ‘road team’ at MetLife. But excited,” Rodgers added. “I miss the guys. Excited to see the guys.”

It seems as if the Jets have been playing better when Rodgers is on-hand for the game, so it’ll certainly be a welcome move to see their leader back with the team this weekend.

Aaron Rodgers is making progress, but he’s still a ways away from returning it seems, but we’ll love hearing all his little stories until he’s back on the field.
