Aaron Rodgers returned to the New York Jets on Monday night and is now sharing an update on his Achilles recovery. On The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers was asked by former teammate AJ Hawk about how his Achilles feels after playing in the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers.

“I actually felt good. I only took two shots, I took a hit from an interior guy and got sacked one time, that was it,” Rodgers said. “I felt like the pass protection was very nice all night. I didn’t have to do a whole lot. I was getting rid of the ball on time for the most part as well. But yeah, my body held up.

“I feel like I’m gonna just keep on getting more comfortable out there, meaning the more I play, the more potential for scrambles could happen with each game where I get even more confident and really letting loose. But I feel 100 percent confident, it’s just maybe I can do a little bit more every single week.”

Rodgers added: “I felt good, body felt good, arm felt good disappointed obviously. It would have been a pretty special culmination to come back and to win on the road against a Super Bowl finalist. They’re a real good team, their offense got rolling last night and we had too many three-and-outs, turned the ball over twice and put our defense in tough spots.”

Rodgers was traded to the Jets from the Green Bay Packers during the offseason last year. He played in the 2023 season opener but suffered an Achilles injury and missed the entire season. On Monday night, Rodgers went 13-of-21 for 167 yards, one touchodwn and one interception in the Jets’ 32-19 loss to the 49ers.

“I have a lot of gratitude just to be back in pads. So many people helped me get back to this spot,” Rodgers said after the game, per the Jets’ official website. “I’m really thankful for my surgeon, my loved ones, my friends, the training staff that helped me get back was really cool.”
