WATCH: Aaron Rodgers showcases joy from sidelines during first preseason win since 2019
Aaron Rodgers is clearly enjoying his time on the sidelines in the 2022 NFL preseason. Friday night in the Packers-Saints matchup, third-string quarterback Danny Etling took off down the right sideline for a 51-yard touchdown run. Rodgers was commentating during the game and sounded like he was having a blast watching his fellow quarterback scamper for the touchdown.
“There it is! Right?! What’d I tell ya?! What’d I tell ya?! What’d I tell ya?! Woooo! Yeah baby! Woooo! What did I tell you?! Haha. Oh yeah, baby! I love it. I love it,” Rodgers said on the Packers TV Network broadcast.
The touchdown run came just moments after Rodgers complimented Etling’s athleticism and was reminiscing about watching one of his long touchdown runs with the New England Patriots. Which is why the future Hall-of-Famer had the reaction that he did.
After the touchdown run, Rodgers had to walk up to the former Purdue and LSU signal-caller to show him some love on the sidelines by rubbing his head.
Etling’s touchdown scamper would be the final score of the game and the Packers would go on to defeat the Saints 20-10. The preseason victory was the first for the franchise since 2019. For the night, Etling had four carries for 48 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Former Nevada wide receiver Romeo Doubs also reeled in a beautiful jump ball for a touchdown in the end zone. He’s been impressing throughout fall camp and he’s only continuing to shine for the Packers in the preseason. Aaron Rodgers’ backup, Jordan Love, completed 12 of his 24 passing attempts on Friday night for 113 passing yards and a touchdown.
Rodgers is excited about the option of throwing passes to his two talented running backs this season, A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones. After recently expressing frustrations with his young receiver corps’, he said he thinks Jones and Dillon can both haul in 50 catches this this year, in an article written by ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.
The Green Bay Packers’ next preseason matchup is against the Kansas City Chiefs on Aug. 25. Kickoff for that one is slated for 8:00 PM EST.
