Aaron Rodgers trolled Chicago Bears with text to Jordan Love after Packers' Week 1 win
Aaron Rodgers isn’t the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers anymore but the injured Jets star is still very much not a Bears fan. The man who went 24-5 against the Bears while leading the Packers revealed to Pat McAfee on Friday that he texted Green Bay QB Jordan Love as his former backup was in the midst of dismantling Chicago in Week 1.
“I said, ‘Congratulations on keeping the ownership in place,'” Rodgers said. “That was pretty awesome for him.”
The Packers drafted Love in 2020 as Aaron Rodgers’ heir apparent and the two have been through some highs and lows. Although Rodgers was bristled by Packers management at the move, he never seemed to take it out on the younger quarterback.
The former teammates still communicate often. Love messaged Rodgers after he tore his Achilles.
“Having an injury like that, it’s tough, it’s tough to hear,” Love told reporters. “He’s probably going through it with the injury. It just sucks. You never want to see that happen. And I feel for him.”
The first-year Packers starter is 29-for-52 so far this season with 396 passing yards and six touchdowns. Despite losing in Week 2, at least Love was able to keep Green Bay’s streak against Chicago alive in Week 1.

The win had to feel pretty good for the young QB. After the game Bears Jaquan Brisker safety sounded off following the loss, proclaiming to the media that Love is “nothing special.”
“He’s just Jordan Love. Number 10. Packers quarterback. He’s nothing special,” Brisker said. “… We’re going to stay the course. We’re going to focus on Tampa. We see them again. They’ll get theirs.”
Tough week for Chicago Bears
This week has felt like quite the year for Chicago Bears fans. The defensive coordinator resigned as multiple rumors swirled, quarterback Justin Fields made waves for some comments and subsequent clarification after they were taken out of context, and starting lineman Braxton Jones wound up on injured reserve.
As if things couldn’t get worse, someone stole equipment from Soldier Field, as well.
According to ABC 7 Chicago, more than $100,000 worth of equipment — including gators and lawn mowers was stolen from the Bears’ stadium earlier this week. A manager said someone tore down a security fence to get the equipment out of a Soldier Field parking garage in the overnight hours on Wednesday.
