Wednesday night, Pat McAfee and his crew will host their first-ever “Big Night AHT” show in Pittsburgh. All the while, NFL free agent quarterback and friend of the “progrum” Aaron Rodgers is deciding where he’ll play next season – leading to rumors about a potential appearance to announce a move during the special.

During an appearance on Ben Roethlisberger’s Footbahlin’ podcast, McAfee made it clear he has not spoken with Rodgers. As a result, he is not “on the docket” for the special show.

McAfee said he’s heard the rumblings about whether Rodgers would appear and announced he’d be signing with the Steelers, or perhaps another team. However, that was not the case at the time he recorded the podcast on Tuesday.

“At Big Night AHT … Aaron Rodgers is not on the docket,” McAfee said. “So I would like everybody to know that. Because I think the show has so many, like, real moments that are going to be coming. And I think think there’s a chance people afterwards go … ‘Freaking didn’t see Aaron Rodgers out there.’ I have not talked to Aaron Rodgers.”

Rodgers is one of the last big free agent quarterback dominoes left to fall in NFL free agency. The Minnesota Vikings reportedly aren’t planning to pursue him anymore, meaning the Steelers are emerging as the favorite to land him.

Although Mike Tomlin previously said the Steelers don’t have a true internal “deadline” for signing Rodgers, Pittsburgh continues to wait for a decision. However, Tomlin added wants a quarterback in place by the time camp starts to the franchise can get properly get ready for the season.

“We know one of the, ‘Who’s,’ we can assume the, ‘Why,’ but the big question is when?” ESPN’s Brooke Pryor recently said on SportsCenter. “Art Rooney was asked today if he’s comfortable waiting for Aaron Rodgers, and he said, ‘Well, not forever, but for a while longer.’ And Mike Tomlin told me just a couple days ago that for him, the line of demarcation is training camp. At that point, team development is hindered with an incomplete quarterback position.

“Now, this is different from what he said a year ago at these meetings where he was putting Russell Wilson in ‘pole position’ to help with team synergy. I asked him, why the difference this time that it doesn’t seem like you need a quarterback in pole position at this point in the year? He said, ‘We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. I’m not going to talk about hypotheticals. This is something that we will likely settle in May.’ Then, he said, ‘Certainly. Probably.’ So, Steelers don’t have an internal deadline. They are waiting on Aaron Rodgers.”
