Abner Uribe punches Jose Siri in the face, massive fight breaks out between Brewers, Rays

A massive fight broke out in Tuesday evening’s contest between the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays. The incident started when Rays outfielder Jose Siri was seen exchanging words with pitcher Abner Uribe of the Brewers in the top of the eighth inning.
Siri grounded out to start the inning and looked to say something in Uribe’s direction. Things quickly escalated as Uribe approached Siri and an umpire attempted to get in between them. Unfortunately, he was too late as Uribe delivered a punch that struck Siri on the side of the head. That led to multiple other players getting involved as the benches cleared.
Uribe ultimately had to be carried away from the chaos by some of his teammates attempting to calm things down. Siri and Uribe were the only players ejected as a result of the melee, which you can view below.
Milwaukee led 8-2 when the fight broke out and would go on to win the game by the same score. However, the result was overshadowed by what was overall a rather hostile contest.

The fight that broke out between Uribe and Siri was not the only incident that occurred Tuesday’s meeting between the Brewers and Rays. Milwaukee starting pitcher Freddy Peralta and manager Pat Murphy were also both ejected in the sixth inning after Peralta hit Siri with a pitch.
Murphy came on the field on had words with the umpire crew leading to his ejection.
As far as the actual game action, Will Adames led Milwaukee to the win with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth that increased the Brewers’ lead to 6-1. He finished the game with four RBI as he went 1-for-3 at the plate.
It’s unclear at this point what, if any, punishment Uribe and Siri will face for their altercation. The matchup was the second in what is a three-game series with the two teams set to face each other again at 1:10 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
